They apparently have a time limit

I have never written a review, but I was compelled to after my unpleasant experience at Azuki. Upon being seated (admittedly 15 minutes late) we were told that we had to leave by 9:15 (for a 7:30 reservation). I have lived in NYC since 2000, and I've never had this happen to me. I didn't take it seriously until I was told that we had five minutes to leave while I was still eating desert. Now I was there with a party of four, and we were being quiet. We all ordered appetizers and entrees so we weren't being cheap. Now the sushi is alright by NYC standards but nowhere near top notch (like a Blue Ribbon Grill). Imagine being given a time limit upon entering a restaurant and then being told to pay before finishing desert! I would not recommend this place at all. I am a reasonable customer but one thing I won't tolerate is rude service from a mediocre establishment. I would attribute the high rankings here to the low quality "unlimited" wine or sake, but the fine print on the menu states that there is a limit (once you finish your entree). The manager even showed me a reservation list that allocated 1 hr. and 45 min for each table.

Let me tell you about a great place

Take a date, take a friend, even your random new craigslist roomate who just moved in last week. Its such a fun and easy going atmosphere that you will end up leaving with a smile on your face and wont have to feel bad about your bank account either. Did I mention FREE wine with a $15 purchase? Cant beat that anywhere. I am a huge sushi fan, so I wouldnt go just anywhere- this place has A+ sushi, great service, and is just plain old awesome. But beacuse of this amazingness, you might have to make a reservation in advance.

    good sushi, great wine

This place is great to go to on a Friday night when you get bottomless glasses of wine or sake when you order $15 worth of food. You don't get a huge amt of food for $15 but it is delicious and by the time you leave drunk, full and happy.

    A must go to

We went for an early dinner, there was no one there at first and then the place filled up...i know now why. You can't beat this value for really good sushi anywhere in the city...would def recommend.

Best value for great Sushi and Wine!

Azuki has fantastic Japanese food that's not over-priced like so many other nyc restaurants. Everything--the sushi, the fish & chicken entrees, the veggie stir fry & bento boxes are all delicious--and a great deal! In fact, if your personal order exeeds $15, you get unlimited glasses of wine! What else could you ask for?! :)

    Disappointing experience

Our party of 3 was not seated until after a larger party which arrived much later got seated. The said there was seating for us in the back, which turned out to be a makeshift area where they keep their takeout orders. We sat literally 2 feet in front of the kitchen entrance and next to the counter where rolls were being mass produced. My friend had a plastic container of sushi makings almost hit her. We had gotten the beef negamaki appetizer, and the beef was quite tough. While the prices were moderate, the rolls were not very impressive and sloppily made. The place left a sour taste in our mouths.

They Don't Deliver What You Ordered

My office used to order lunch from Azuki at least once or twice per week. We loved the food. Today we placed an order, and the wrong rolls came. Even though she read it back on the phone correctly, the woman working refused to acknowledge that they packed the wrong food for delivery, refused to bring our correct order unless we paid extra, and therefore lost 6 loyal customers in the process. The food is great, but if you want the correct order, and good customer service, go to Yama - just as good a deal, in the same area, and the food is much better, and they treat their customers well.
