for all types of events
Great quaint place for a date, business meeting, place to start or end the night at. Most places I go to are nice to eat at and can fall into a dime a dozen type of category, however an owner can help make you differentiate one place to another. Aytac, the owner, is a type of person that makes you want to be a regular there. Very nice wine selection and the price is very fair for the location. The food is good and is a tapas type of deal but goes well with the ambiance and theme. I would definitely order something to eat with the glasses of yummy wines you'll be trying.

Very good place for drinks
Lovely midtown establishment. Nice place to meet friends after work for a drink. The food was good also.

10 out of 10.
I have to give this place a 10 out of 10. We started out the night with a complimentary shot of their spiced wine, which was delicious. The appetizer platter was almost too good to be true! Everything from hummus to pizza to duck confit! The braised beef was made with a dark chocolate sauce, which was pretty unreal. And the belgian chocolate fondue was so heavenly. The service was great and everyone who worked here seemed to be really happy to be working here. I’m looking forward to coming back.

this place is so romantic
This place is so romantic; I almost wish I’d come with my boyfriend instead of my best friend. She and I still had a great night, though! The servers seemed to have their hands full with a few big tables, so we were served our drinks by the manager/owner. I always prefer restaurants where the owner is physically in the establishment; the level of service tends to be better. I will definitely be coming back again--this time with my boyfriend.

Don't bother....
To start, the host was annoying...he insisted I stand in a crowded cramped corner of the restaurant while I waited for my friend who was arriving in 5min even though there were tons of seats. And the previous review is spot on...the portions here are tiny and without much taste. Truly bland fair. Then to add insult to injury, they automatically gave themselves an 18% tip and we were only a party of two!! Our waitress was fine....but quite annoying that they do that. Quite simply...do not bother with the place.

Small portions, overpriced and not romantic
AYZA is labeled as romantic on menupages and other foodie sites. However, this place had the music so loud that customers were forced to raise their voices and basically this was just a noisy crowded headache-inducing place. I went to the bathroom and shook my head when I saw the Ipod fixed on a "Club" mix (that's what the screen said). Their napkins and tables advertise for Couples nights on Sunday--maybe that's the one night they tone down the club-like atmosphere and give couples a chance to have a quiet cozy evening, but I wouldn't count on it. We went for the whole works: the wine, food and chocolate. The food was pitiful. I've had typical nyc small portions at other restaurants but at most places you're getting quality dining. This was not the case AT ALL. My bf and I went with another couple and all 4 plates were highly disappointing. Up until now, we couldn't hear each other and the overpriced tiny portions couldn't fill up a bird. So now we move on to the chocolate which was fine, but again, small portions. Terrible, terrible evening.
