Having a foodie brother, I've tried many fabulous restaurants in the city, and few compare to August. It's low-key in atmosphere, but can't be beat in service and food. They always have a few staples that I love, and I come back once every few weeks for their seasonal items. The desserts are fabulous, but their apps and fish are rediculously wonderful! The service is always sweet and willing to talk and make you feel at home, even when they're crowded beyond belief. If you want a relaxed but wonderful dinner, you MUST try August.

The previous reviewer on this page hit it on the button. The lamb is pure fat. You can feel the pure saturated fat rolling across your tongue. Truly awful. Totally reorganize that menu! The little back room with the pitched glass overhead is nice to sit in as the sun's going down--snd then they turn the lights on low, sweet. But what a terrible disappointment! Nice place for a drink perhaps, but go elsewhere for sustenance.

Had heard good things about this restaurant, but was extremely disappointed. After our appetizer we had to wait nearly 40 minutes for our main course. Noone bothered to clear off a piece of tomato left on the table from the appetizer until we were given our dessert menus. The entrees disappointed--the baby back lamb ribs were too fatty and the fish was definitely not worth $21. I hoped the dessert might save the meal, but the coffee was served lukewarm and the peach crostada was tasteless. I won't go back.

Returned for dinner after 2 yrs prior in the Fall. Everything is still as good as it was before. Food was excellent as was the service. Did not have reservations and inquired in person prior to opening at 5:30pm and was informed to return when they opened for service and should be seated with no problems which was exactly what happened. Will return again sooner than 2 yrs!

Phoned up and they said "No reservations available tonight but you could try walking in." Did that and although I could see many empty seats they said they were full for an hour and a half unless they got a cancellation. I left my cell and name (not asked for but I gave it). After 10 minutes they called to say they had a cancellation but had to fill it in 10 minutes. Rushed back and got a table for two. I don't know why there was this charade as there were clearly other empty tables which remained empty (other walk-ins turned away for no apparent reason) for the duration of our meal. The appetiser was the best part. Why is this so often the case? Idea for a restaurant only serves appetisers? Delicious light Sicilian bread with octopus and salad on top. The oysters were nothing special. The entree was a bit of a let down. Lamb ribs - incredibly greasy. I suppose I should have realised lamb would be. The chickpea fries were soooo salty otherwise I think they would have been a hit. Dessert was an average chocolate mousse. With the rave reviews expected a LOT better and in this day and age to have too salty food and too greasy is a bit of a shock. Not sure whether I would return or not. Probably as they apparently change the menu but there are a lot of restaurants out there...

I love this place. The atrium is heaven. It's my usual place for special occasions. You must try one or two appetizers, they are edible perfections. The menu changes often - which is why I keep coming back often! I'm always sure it will be a delicious surprise.

Went to lunch there yesterday and sat comfortably in the back atrium which was like an oasis in the middle of the hot city. My friend had the Gravlax appetizer and loved it. I had the Fava Bean and Goat Cheese Pizza and already can't wait to go back and get it again. But I was still starving after that tiny pizza so it wasn't a great value. And the "cheesecake" was not like cheesecake at all, nor was it very good. The other selections we got fell somewhere in the middle. So our food varied widely for us. Because of that, not sure the Prix Fixe lunch menu is a very good value. It's a nice place, as long as you luck out with what you order. But when you do, it's mighty yummy.
