Sunday Brunch
Found this place on this website and decided to try it. Definitely packed for brunch and when I got there it was a 30 min wait- no where to stand and it was raining outside. But the waitstaff was pleasant and no-nonsense. Told them we didn't have much time and they recommended quick eats. We both ordered the reuben sandwiches- amazing taste- it was thick cut bacon more like corned beef on this amazing dark rye and red cabbage with great smothered cheese- very delicious. The side salad was an interesting vingerette mixe of onion, small pieces of lettuce and some kind of thinly sliced root- very nice combination for a heavy dish. The mimosa was overpriced at $8 each, but altogether our meal came to $40 without tip. I would recommend as a nice, a little more expensive, but delicious brunch- sure to impress a date or a business brunch. Looks like there is outdoor seating in warm weather too.

A Must...but maybe for lunch?
I ate lunch at august yesterday and I must say, I was quite impressed with the intersting menu and the well executed delivery of my food. I was dining with my girlfriend and she really doesn't like to eat so I took the liberty of ordering two things because I am fat. I had the oak greens and hanger steak with marrow. Both were delectable and well-balanced. For the life of me, I can't figure out how they get that hangar steak so gosh-darn tender. Jeepers!! It was so tasty..I almost had the willie doodles right under the table. The highlight of my meal though was our server. She was perfect. I am pretty sure that I fell in love with her. When my girlfriend got up to use the restroom, I tried to to convince the waitress that my company was in fact, my sister. Im not sure if she went for it but I'll be back. Alone.

No Service Issues Here!
I have to disagree with the poor service issues mentioned here by some other reviewers. My boyfriend and I were there last night and had one of the best service experiences that we'd had in NYC in ages. They new our names before we even announced them, our table was all set up for us, and the manager popped by our table. Add to that the delicious food, and we'll definitely be back. I want to try out the brunch!

A find!
I have been here twice with groups and once as a table for two. Both times, I have found myself more than satisfied and having impressed my company. They are a small restaurant and it's cozy European feeling is unique, but for the price, you can not do any better. Our waitresses have always been very patient and that goes a long way when you have a big group. Sit in the back for brunch on sunday!

Poor experience
This place had a lot of hype - but we left feeling very let-down. We agree with the other reviewers - the food is excellent, but the dining experience marred by poor service. Our waitress was unpleasant and absent. The room was noisy with irritating background music. Would not return.

Disappointed
After walking by this cute little spot several tiimes, we finally decided to give it a try, and were disappointed. While the menu offered a variety of very creative combinations and dishes, they were unnimpressive upon their arrival. There were four of us dining, and none of us received a hot dinner, all "warm". The flavors in the dishes were great, but such things as overcooked fish, an excess of fat, and minimal flavor left us disappointed. We will most likely not return for another dinner.

Go hungry, Leave parched!
My girlfriend and I came to August when we could not get into some other local places in the West Village. The service was not so good. The best person working in the place was our waterboy! Who I personally tipped at the end of the night. The portions were small and had little taste. The only good dish I had was the oysters which you can get anywhere else. I do not recommend this place.
