    Food done to perfection

    I attended August on a lark on a humid summer evening. My perspiration was considerable as I had just trekked several blocks after being delayed in the subway for quite some time. As I entered the perfectly lit restaurant I was greeted by an ambitious young chef who wore a peevish grin. It was as though he knew this would be my most satiable meal to date. The appetizer and wine choices were replete; more selection than a black-market DVD store. I began with the tart flamb? and my lady friend chose the green peppers. My taste buds were engaged in movement as powerful as Stratvinsky's Firebird. With each bite I moved closer to Nirvana and understood how food is the cure for a lost soul. Without going into too much detail, the main course of Pasta Carbonara was equally delicious. The pasta was seasoned with an equal amount of sauce and the soul of the munificent chef. Would I recommend August. With a resounding and affirmative yes!

    Great date place

    Along with the atmosphere, which was romantic but not claustrophobic, the food was very good (especially the appetizers). The staff was cordial, considerate, and quick without being hazard. Leave room for dessert(s)!

    Went here the night we got engaged to celebrate and we were treated so well by everyone in the restaurant. We had to leave New York the next day but will certainly be making a trip back as soon as we are lucky enough to return. Fantastic.

    I find the food to be well-prepared, but a little underseasoned at times (the sea bass, for one) or oversalted (the rabbit). Since there's no salt on the tables, the restaurant needs to be more careful about taste of the plates. I also think the prices are a bit steep for the kind of food being cooked. I understand $24 for grilled sirloin, but is it really necessary to charge more than $12 for chicken?

    Friday night dinner prefection

    This place was a secret gem! The restaurant is tiny, but there is a patio outside that will make top off the amazing aspects August has to offer. It was the perfect dinner before a night out on the town. Not only did were our meals/wine great, but the service couldn't have been better. Great for a date or just a casual dinner....you defintely need to try this place!
