A feeling of old-time luxury...
This place reminds me of some kind of 40s restaurant, with its antique mirrors and art decoish feel. I started of with a "Singapore" cocktail which was a mild and tasteful blend of tea and sparkling wine...mmmm. :) The lobster bisque was smooth, albeit a little too heavy, but the clams were fresh and tasty. Though it is not entirely unique, it is tasty, tasteful and well presented. Plus, the service is very good. Oh, and don't pass on dessert--the warm chcolate cake is just the right end for a good meal.

I was very impressed on my first visit here. It was a tuesday lunch hour, and we were seated immediately without reservations, but I can imagine that reservations might be helpful during the weekend. The salmon was the best I've ever tasted. The cappuccino and creme brulle were also excellent. Attentive, competent staff, lots of natural light, and a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. This place reminds me of an upscale sunday dinner in charleston, sc, my hometown.

Pleasantly Surprised
Four of us ate at the Atlantic Grill on 2/26. After reading the other reviews, I expected very small portions at very high prices. We all agreed that the portions were plentiful and tasted great. We do not know if there has been a change for the better or if the other reviewers expect gigantic portions. We have no complaints whatsoever as to the quantity or quality of the food. The service was also very good.

First visit was a pleasure
Admittedly, we had a gift certificate from our daughter, which made the price more palatable! We had reservations and reconfirmed as requested. Arrived early before the restaurant was packed on a Saturday and was promptly seated at a spacious table opposite the sushi bar. Some other areas were more cramped. The waitress was supurb, attentive and did not rush us at all. We had sushi, the lobster bisque, and entrees which we did not find to be small, at all. Also had inexpensive wine with the meal and tasty deserts. Alltogether, an enjoyable dinner. I guess if you live in the Big Apple, you can be more critical, but we found it excellent.

Needs work
Wasabi was asked for never received. Turkey was dry. Vegetatables were tasteless. No liquor in the bloody marys. Stick to the fish.

Half a fish at twice the price
I had eaten here at least 15 times over a 2 year period. If it wasn't for the pleasant atmosphere, inviting decor, and fresh, well prepared fish I wouldn't have gone back. But alas, the former couldn't overpower the shock each time the waiter placed the entre on the table. A portion control managers dream!! The portions are between 50-70% of the size of what every other resturant serves in Manhattan. A dieters delight, but be prepared to leave hungry.
