You're Paying for the View
I was intrigued when I called this restaurant which somehow purported to specialize in seafood. You order and pay for the food out front, then take your number, go in and seat yourself, and hope that eventually they notice you and bring you water and your drink. Well, they were out of the only seafood on the menu that day and the two cashiers out front managed to be both bored and snotty. I should have left right then. The menu consisted mostly of over-priced sandwiches and salads. The bread was delicious but you have to ASK for it. I had the special wine of the day which wasn't too bad. I then waited. And waited. And waited for my salad. Mind you, it had only 4 ingredients: lettuce, walnus, goat cheese and shrimp. Somehow it took them more than 35 minutes to boil shrimp, and it was not boiled enough. The only pleasant thing was that it is a large dining room in the design building, with a fairly nice view of the city. Lunch consisting of a salad with shrimp and one glass of wine cost me $35. Big waste of money.

Best Value Lunch in NYC
This catering facility offers a lunch menu M-F. The food is ordered & paid for at the entryway, you seat yourself & the food is delivered. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. Great Seafood (what else from Charlie Palmer). Outside seating in the warm months, views of the Queensborough Bridge & skyline.
