    Amazing atmosphere, food and service

Just had dinner at Asiate last night with a friend. Ordered the sashimi app and the sea bass entre - both were excellent. I felt like I was at the Four Seasons, the service was phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant. Best of all, the portions were generous even though the food was great. Usually its one or the other - but high quality and large quality! I'd go back today if I could.

    Great Views, Unimpressive Food

Went to Asiate on a Saturday night, it is on the top floor of the mandarian oriental. The views are amazing unlike any other in the city. However this is all Asiate has to offer. The food was extremly unimpressive and pricey. Went with a large party, we had almost everything on the menu. I was very unimpressed and I do not recommend this restuarant. The chocolate desert was the one positive.

    Disappointing

We were a group of 3 and decided to have brunch at Asiate. We were given airline food for $300. Although the environment was nice, the food was not what we expected. It's a nice place for drinks not meals.

    Premier Dining Experience

Phenomenal. The ambiance is just incredible--very soothing and romantic, with a view of the city in floor to ceiling windows. The service was absolutely top-notch. The waiters, the sommelier, the host...all of the restaurant's staff made us feel welcome; they were all incredibly helpful, kind, and worked (although they made it seem effortless) tirelessly to make our dining experience the best that it could be. The appetizers and desserts were out of this world (the Chocolate tasting plate was soooooooo delicious). Unfortunately, the entrees left something to be desired (still good, just not nearly as great as the other courses. The wine list was extensive (and expensive); a bottle was recommended to us that paired perfectly with both of our meals. Excellent, premier dining experience.

    Great view but...

Took my mom here for breakfast on her 80th birthday. While the staff responsible for making (and changing at our request) the reservation and table with the best view was amazing, the rest of our experience was a tad disappointing. We waited far too long for our meal (which was acknowledged by the staff but not in any way compensated). The food was fine, although one side order was on the plate for the wrong person. I am of the mind that plates should not be cleared until everyone is done, which I realize is not universal. But to bring the check while my mother was still eating is tacky, for any restaurant, never mind one with these prices and this reputation. My mother asked me if we were being rushed out. I also had to look around a bit for someone to take my payment. The view is spectacular.

    Excellent

I had a business breakfast for eight people yesterday and it was great.....the service, atmosphere, food and view were all over the top. I asked for a room off to the side so we could discuss business without bothering the other guests and the staff pulled it off. My guests, long time NY's were very impressed with the all aspects of our selection. Overall, very good value and over the top service.

    Better the second time

Definitly better the second time around- came here for lunch on a weekday- I was surprised to find the crowd moderate, but then again the hype has died down. We were seated right away, and you can't go wrong with the view no matter where you are. The bread was fresh, butter too hard. My porcini soup was beyond great. It had just the right amount of spices and presentation was eye catching. this could have been a meal in itself. My entree of blk sea bass was perfect. Clean and tasteful. Although the portions are definitly generous- its worth the experience for the food and the view. The service was good- nothing out of the ordinary but professional and courteous. This place is the perfect spot for a business lunch bringing in the ( affluent ) in laws to impress, but not really intimate for a date.
