food lover
I went here with a bunch of friends and thought it was okay. It is not a good place for vegetarians because their only veggie dish is like three blocks of tofu in a sauce that has no taste to it and it's way overpriced. The Thai salad was amazing tough and the mojitos were the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is really nice and the music is good but if you stay there for more than 2 hours which is what we did the music gets too repetitive.

Pricey but GREAT food and service!
On a recent ladies trip to NYC myself and 4 others dined at Asia de Cuba at the recommendation of a colleague. We knew going in that it would be pricy, but the food made up for it! The asian spiced pork spare ribs appetizer was outstanding...the meat just falls off the bone. The cuban chicken and honey-rhum glazed pot-roast of pork entree's were also very good. I was told the lobster mashed potatoes were to die for, but they were a little fishy tasting for my liking. I only have 2 complaints: 1)The waiter recommended far more food then 5 ladies needed. Not knowing how big the portion sizes woudl be, we went with the waiters recommendation of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 sides. We didn't even put a dent in the food and since staying at a hotel, the left overs went to waste. 2) The food comes out as it is ready and not all at once. We received 2 of our 3 entrees before any of the sides arrived...including the coconut rice recommended by the waiter to complement the roast. However, the waiter did comp us the rice without our asking since it arrived so late! Very good food, amazing specialty drinks, great servie, fantastic ambiance....but it is pricey! I guess you get what you pay for though!

Loved It! but way too expensive!
My boyfriend and I went to Asia de Cuba a few years ago to celebrate an anniversary. We loved the food. The tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes was to-die-for! we loved everything we ate. the portions were not big. we got 2 drinks, water, 2 entrees, one appetizer and the bill with tip came to almost $300!! this was a great place with nice staff and atmosphere, but the prices are ridiculous. We don't regret the splurge tho :-)

The staff is snobbier then the guests!
It was a wet rainy saturday when we ran into Asia De Cuba to make out 5:30 reservation. Great! we were early. Since they open at 5:30 we waited a short while before approaching the desk and announcing our arrival. The coat check clerk was pleasant and took our wet umbrellas and bags, the hostsess was nice but she ruined the first half of my stay immediatly when she found our reservation, then told us to head upstairs, to the bar and someone would meet us to seat us. After 15 minutes of sitting upstairs and watching other people get seated I had enough - we followed the rules, were dressed to impress and had nothing but good feelings walking into the door. I had to go downstairs and pretty much ask what heck was going on and why my party and I were left in limbo. Unfortunatly to say this I had to break up the employee pow-wow that was going on at the front desk. Sorry guys, get back to work. There was another couple that walked in the same time we did and because they didnt say anything they were completely forgotten about and were left sitting there until 1/2 way through our meal. This left a very bad taste in my mouth immediately. After we were seated I began to cool off a bit as the rest of my party did the best to keep me cool. We all did the Wine pairing and the pre-fix tasting menu. The food was actually very tasty and the wine was above average. Our waiter pretty much saved the day for Asia de Cuba as he was very nice, very accommodating and the meal was spaced out pretty well I think we had one or two pile ups but with 3 of us doing the tasting menu it was bound to happen. The prices were not completely outrageous. The more we drank the easier it was to pay the bill. I do suggest having a Mojito - it's their signature drink and it follows through. All in all a disorganized hosting team left a horrible taste in my mouth but my company and the food began to make up for it. If they pull what they did the first time i went I would not be interested in going again.

unpleasant service
I had dinner with some friends at Asia de Cuba last week. The atmosphere was nice. The food was so, so. For something so expensive I was hoping for something spectacular. The service was not good. Our waiter was rude, unfriendly, not very accomodating, didn't make us feel welcome.

never got to go
i arrived at the restaurant with my daughter and her friend. we were turned away since my daughter's friend was wearing nicely pressed pants and polo shirt. We were wearing dresses. It would be nice if a dress code were posted on the website. And, the "doorman" was quite rude.

Going downhill
Atomosphere: Still a gorgeous space, but they let any slob in (jeans and sweashirts not a problem). Service: Cocktails take forever (15 -20 minutes), but food service was satisfactory. Food: Actually quite good, but portions are rediculously small. Price: Very expensive relative to portion size.
