    Worst Sushi in HK

    I work a few blocks away from Aru, and had the 2 roll combo delivered. The miso soup had no flavor at all, and the fish in my rolls was not fresh at all. The tuna looked as if it had been sitting in the sun for hours. I don't recommend ordering here unless you're planning on throwing out your food once you take a look at/taste it.

    fabulous take-out sushi

    fantastic!! they got here in under 20 minutes, I ordered two special rolls, miso soup, and three bottled waters (i was insanely thirsty!!) all for under $15! Crazy. The tuna was very fresh, the mango straight from the market, and they even gave me sugared orange slices for "dessert" delicious! will continue to eat here. that thing about the bubble tea though, that sucks.

    Small and quiet

    I've eaten here many times. I could care less about bubble tea, and if they don't have it, i am not disappointed. The restaurant is quiet and dimly lit. Small and quiet. In a city where chaos and noise reigns, this is a relief. The sushi chef is well trained. I've had numerous orders of a variety of sushi here. All was great. Also ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. it was great. the girl above says something about the shrimp not having a any flavor.....never noticed shrimp itself had flavor. I truly believe someone in the restaurant must have been having a rough night. The food has always been wonderful when i've eaten there. If you go there, bring a friend who can hold a great conversation because sometimes you will have a wait. Besides that, i guess just don't order the above items listed by the girl who claims to not be a foodie.

    i know the reason for no bubble tea...

    i happen to know the owner of this restaurant. he was looking for help a few months ago and hired the current host and server at this cute little place. this guy has turned out to be lazy. they do HAVE the bubble tea, and the owner has shown him how to make it, but he REFUSES to make it himself, saying that everybody makes it differently and he doesn't know how the owner likes it. at any rate, the owner has gone to China indefinitely. i hope he will return - he makes lovely bubble tea! until then, if you go there for bubble tea, always ask for MICHAEL. if he's not there, enjoy at your own risk. the food is still very good!

    No bubble tea

    Just like the last reviewer, the restaurant had no bubble tea yet the HUGE bubble tea sign was lit up in all it's glory. Very dissapointing. The food was pretty good though.

    Disappointed in this place.

    I recently visited this place after walking around the neighborhood looking for a place to eat. It looked nice and clean inside, so my boyfriend and I decided to try it out (we love Japanese food). When we went to order, I ordered two rolls and a coconut milk bubble tea. The waiter told me they didn't have any. I asked what kind they did have and he said, "None, we don't have anything. Only hot tea and soda." This kind of miffed me, since I had passed up another Japanese restaurant up the block because I had a specific craving for bubble tea, plus they had a large neon sign in the window which said "Bubble Tea". I then ordered a shitake clear soup, only to be told, 'We don't have shitkae mushrooms, only fresh mushrooms." I just went with it, since I normally have it with fresh mushrooms anyway, but was a little frustrated. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp tempura bento box with miso soup. When the soups came, both soups were bland and flavorless - I partially expected this of the clear soup, but the miso soup was so watered down we had to add soy sauce to it to give it any hint of flavor. Admittedly, when the rolls came, I was pleasantly surprised - the salmon skin roll was amazingly fresh and delicious, and the avocado and sundried tomato roll was original and very tasty. My boyfriend's bento box was another story - the shrimp tempura looked as if it had been battered in thick flour. When we tried them out, the coating tasted exactly like Bisquick, and the shrimp had little flavor. It essentially looked and tasted like a corndog with a shrimp tail sticking out. Plus, the dipping sauce was watery and had no flavor to it. I'm normally pretty forgiving about places, and I'm not a foodie by ANY means, but this place was beyond disappointing. Plus the service was not good to boot (and all the people working there seemed to be wearing flip flops, I'm not sure if that's a health code violation?). I definitely wouldn't visit this place again - if I absolutely had to, I would stick to only ordering their rolls, which were probably the best part of the whole experience.

    Ordered Sushis are always good.
