A First Visit to Arte Cafe

The atmosphere at Arte Cafe is lively, warm, and fun. The decor is lovely and is a space in which one feels relaxed and comfortable. Our service was excellent, and the food was quite good, particularly the bread and salad. The main course was a bit salty. Times are difficult currently, but this restaurant offers wonderful value. I look forward to visiting Arte Cafe again soon.

Miss the proverbial good ol' days.

As I write this my "bride" is making reservations. . .'cause it's close to Lincoln Center and we are hoping we hit a good day at the Cafe. In years gone by the food, service and ambiance were always good to very good. Now it's a hit or miss. Last visit with first time friends found poor service (we had to go look for a waiter), the food was good. . .but two of us had to sent it back - food was lukewarm at best. The atmosphere has always been good. So, in sum, if you are, or can be pro-active you should give it a try. Pasta & veal is usually good brunch is so very hit & miss (they are usually very busy and it shows up in both service and food).

    Nice brunch

Had brunch here over the weekend with three other people. The front of the house staff were entirely indifferent and seemed to have little interest in paying any attention. But our waiter was a top-notch pro, the service was relatively snappy and the food was pretty good. (Stale burger bun, got the eggs order slightly wrong, but it all still tasted very good).

    umbra

Great place that my wife and I discovered for dinner, both quality and value sum it all up. Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine cost us $70 with tax and tip. The place was packed with what looked like the regulars, as a rule of thumb go where the locals dine. Great experience, will be back.

    Service decline.....

I arranged a dinner at the Arte Cafe having had a number of great experiences previously and was extremely disappointed at the service. We waited a long time for our table, despite having a confirmed booking and the restaurant not being that busy at all. We then had to wait forever to put in our food orders despite asking to do so many times. Our waiter disappeared during the meal and seemed to be replaced by someone who was not dressed as a waiter and appeared. He made many attempts to take away our plates even though we weren’t finished with our meal. Once we paid and finished our meal, the guy (not the waiter) told us his section of the restaurant was closing and we would have to leave... I would think twice before I go again

    mediocre

The price keeps going up and the food quality goes down. The waiters were arrogant. Had to return my food twice. There are far better places to eat in the neighborhood.I just wanted a decent meal. What is going on there?

    Why?

This place is one of the best restaurants we have, and one of the last Italian in the neighborhood. Why did they close the back yard? I eat 3 times a week there and always the food and service is good.
