I don't know what some of these other reviewers are talking about! I LOVE Arte Cafe. My fiance and I stumbled upon it a few years ago, during the week. We didn't know anything about it but the atmosphere was great, and who could beat a prix fixe dinner (appetizer, dinner and dessert) for $14? The waiters may not be the friendliest but their outdoor seating, quality of food and ambience well make up for it. I've been back several times and have not been disappointed.

My wife and I had dinner on Sunday, 3/22/09. We left totally disappointed for the following reasons: 1-Our waiter was unfriendly. 2-Our dishes were totally tasteless and I requested a serving of tomato sauce to make my dish flavorful but the sauce didn't help. My wife also added some sauce to her dish without improving it either. I had the Cavatelli con Sugo Di Cinghiale and my wife had the Fusilli Norcia. 3-The prices should at least include a vegetable. 4-Charging $12 for a glass of regular-tasting wine is outrageous. I tried my dish because it sounded exotic but it wasn't, it was run of the mill and tasteless. The only thing we enjoyed was the bread and butter.

I was very surprised to find a true dining jewel on the Upper West Side in the form of Arte Cafe. I entered with no reservation and was warmly greeted by the hostess and manager before my wife and I were guided to a small but comfortable table. The dining room was a little noisy but the food was magnificent. The sole fish is divine as is the chicken dish my wife tried. As I said, the room was a little noisy and the waiter had quiet a number of tables - but the quality and value is unbeatable. I will definitely be back!!!

We went to this restaurant for dinner one night and we were disappointed. We feel this restaurant is definitely not worth the money they charge. There were pieces of cork floating around in my glass of red wine, we received bread with a side plate of olive oil (I think the balsamic vinegar was forgotten) and the chicken parm left a lot to be desired. We won't be going back there.

Because there's no quality Italian food on the UWS, this will have to do. . .and it did until they changed the food ingredients or something. . .this place has gone downhill. . .we used to do takeout once a week from here - always ordering the Fusilli Norcia but the quality is now poor versus from where it was. . .I'll throw them a buck or two once in awhile but will always be dissappointed.

I live in the west 60's, moved in recently and searched for Italian place on here and saw that this place had plenty of reviews, so i decided to check it out... The food is simply delicious. One look at the ingredients and color of the dish when it arrived told me it was going to be mouth-watering. I will definitely order again soon. The reviews live up to the benchmark they've created.
