Went for brunch with a part of 6 - It was one bad situation after another trying to get our order. The service was poor. It took ages to get a glass of orange juice and coffee. When food finally came, the order was less than complete or correct - making the wait even longer. Although a leisurely brunch is lovely - this was a dreadful wait for everything - including the check!

Nice atmosphere. Great food. Marginal service. I reccommend the seafood tortelini and caesar salad. To our dismay, the classy place only takes American Express! Which makes for an embarassing night and disrupts the groove when you have to hike to the ATM to cover the moderately priced fare. Waiter was nice, yet service was only marginal.

We just came from one more lunch at Arte Cafe and I must say, I am astonished that the service was blasted here. Everytime we have gone here (at least 10 now) the waiters run like hell to get that peppermil, refill our water glasses without us even noticing, and are genuinely happy and sweet. Our favorite waiter is a lookalike for Oliver Platt and I can't remember a nicer waiter. Even when customers get obnoxious (which I have seen) they remain polite and professional. Besides this, the food is outstanding (not over-the-top gourmet but real Italian). The butternut squash soup is the best I've ever had. The hamburger I tried to dissuade my husband from having was a mind-blower, no wonder everyone is always ordering them. Everything is wonderful including superlush salads & great sauces. Yes as Michaelangelo says, it is New York's best kept secret.

I must say I was very very disappointed with the service, with all the raves I read and heard but it is ALL wrong. I think our waiter got kidnapped by the bigger tables if you want to get service you better not go alone or with a date. I was there to impress someone instead it was a waste of my time with so many better places to dine in NYC they should be ashamed of themselves to be in New York City! The waiter was annoying, the host if one even existed was not around and the clean-up crew must have been on a break for two hours.

We were in New York for vacation from Sherwood Park, Alberta,Canada. This restaurant came highly recommnended by friends who were in New York before us. We were in the Manhattan area for eight days and had different eats every night and this was our most favorite. Food, Service and atmosphere exceeded all of our expectations. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back on our next visit!!!

I've been coming here every few months for almost 2 years now. The food is consistently good but the service is very spotty. Turnover seems much higher than at other restaurants; I've seen the same waiter only once in about 15 visits.

I've lived in this neighborhood for two decades and I must have passed by Arte Cafe' numberous times but never stopped in. It was a fluke that a blind date took me there for our first encounter. He told me it was his favorite place.Well I was impressed. Arte Cafe` seems like a special occasion spot with neighberhood prices. By the way my date didnt work out so well, but at least I found out about this treasure. I am now a regular and loving it.
