The food was fantastic. There were lots of no carb options, which was impressive for an Italian restaurant. The dishes were creative and the sauces delicious. I have been back twice in the past week. I would recommend it to anyone.
I've went to this place a couple of times and it's not bad. The food is not unique or inventive, just your standard Italian food. The service is a bit spotty, it takes them about 3-5 minutes for them to refill your water without asking for it. The prix fixe menu for lunch is a bargain compared to the rest of the city. Overall: it's not bad, it's not great, it's just decent.

I saw a couple of negative posts about Arte Cafe?s service and I must say that I was surprised. So I thought I would share my impressions. Every time I go to Arte Caf? I am welcomed with friendly prompt service. I do prefer to dine leisurely so I may differ from diners who have time constraints, but I can?t imagine that if I were to tell the staff that I was in a bit of a rush that they wouldn?t accommodate me immediately. I, on the other hand, have never felt rushed by the waiters (one of my biggest pet peeves with other restaurants) though I know there may have been people waiting for a table. The staff has always been very accommodating including our last visit when they went so far as to create a cheese-less pizza for my lactose intolerant wife so she could sample their new brick oven creations. I swiped a slice and it was delectable... Hopefully they will put it on the menu, (hint hint).

The new renovations introduced a draft (bring a sweater). The food was served cold but after waiting 20 minutes to get it reheated , it tasted great! (But I was also very hungry). Service was poor as I had to wait for drink, food and check. Also was very noisy, couldn't hear my dinner partner.

I guess they would be called growing pains. I had stopped going to Arte Cafe' because I was honestly annoyed by the constant renovation going on, but few days ago I felt the need to check it out again after a long absence. The whole place has taken a different direction. The food has improved dramatically, and the ambiance and service have been enhanced to new levels. The greatest surprise was to see the addition of a brick oven where they make a great thin crust pizza. I am happy and back home.

I have moved to the Upper West Side few months ago and one of the first spots I was introduced to was Arte Cafe', "a must try" according to my best friend. I have been going ever since at least twice a week. I always liked the food, especially for the unbeatable quality/price point, but lately they have really pushed it up a notch with a new chef. The food is delicious and the prices are still the same. I always have a good meal and service is efficent and accomodating. Honestly I can't find anything negative to say. It's the best deal on the UWS. And by the way after the renovation this place looks awesome.

I have to say that the improvements of this restaurant are amazing. I have lived in the neighborhood for ten years and have been going to Arte Cafe since it opened. They are at the top of their game right now- the food, service, and atmosphere are wonderful and the prices haven't changed. I recommend this place to everyone I know and go there at least twice a week myself. It's a hidden treasure that people need to know about. I was surprised about some of the other bad service reviews and am curious when those people went- brunches tend to be crazy in this neighborhood so I'm guessing that that was the time when the service may have been a little rough. They expanded the restaurant quite a bit as well so they may be adjusting-- to all those that had a bad experience, I suggest giving Arte Cafe a second chance.
