    poor service, won't be back

My husband, inlaws, and my brother just had brunch here on Sunday. We had a 1:30 reservation, and were looking forward to a nice brunch. We checked in with the hostess, asked her how long it might it would be before we are seated, and she said she had no idea. I was confused - isn't it your job to know? I live in the area, and this is the second time I've had bad service here. I will never eat here again.

    Rude manager

It's a very sad day in our household! Arte's has always been one of our most favorite places to go for lunch/brunch/dinner in our neighborhood. We are consistently welcomed with open arms. The food and service is some of the best around! Unfortuately, today at lunch was a totally different story. The food was still delicious, the service was wonderful but the manager decided it was much more important to cater to "potential" customers who MAY walk in the door than to be accommodating and hospitable to the paying customers who were already seated with drinks in hand and food on the way to the table. We moved tables 3 times during an hour-long lunch. The first table was a nice window seat inside. There were only 3 other tables in use in the entire inside of the restaurant but it was beastly hot. Broken a/c or too cheap to turn it on during a hot and humid day in the city? Perhaps. We moved outside where only 3 tables were in use on their good-sized front patio. After a few minutes of looking over the menu and visiting, we placed our orders for food and drinks. We were half way finished with our drinks when the hostess came over and told us were weren't allowed to sit at the table we were in because it was for 4 people and there were only 2 of us. (Perhaps they didn't see another table that was also set up for 4 that had two people sitting at it and sipping coffee...or the many other EMPTY tables set up for 2 and 4 on the off chance more customers just might come in for the "big lunch rush." The manager, told us he knew he was going to have. Really? It was after one o'clock! Are you kidding me? We played the game and moved to a 2 top that was shoved into a back corner with no air circulating. Our delicious meal arrived by the kind server who we're sure was as confused by our unwanted table-hopping in mid meal as we were! We informed the manager that we would not be returning to Arte's in the future and would be spreading the word to our neighbors as well as online that his treatment of us was inexcusable! He could have cared less. Guess what? No one ever used the table while we were there! And...maybe only a handful of people walked in once we relocated for the third time. We are loyal customers. Now we will be loyal customers elsewhere!

    Service lacking

Just had a disappointing dinner at Arte Cafe. Food was ok, service was lacking. We sat for awhile after drinks were served, then salad and entree arrived at the same time. Our waiter ignored us for most of the meal. We used to like this place but I would not recommend it now. Too bad

    Poor service

My wife and I have been here several times and this evening we went with another couple. We were seated in the back and were waiting to be taken care of when the manager came over and asked us to move to another table because they had a large party coming in. OK, no prob. The larger party shows up and gets immediate service, bread, olive oil, water. we get nothing. We had to ask for it. Before we recieved our bread and water a waitress came to ouir table and asked us if we were ready to order. We haven't ordered drinks, or been told the specials. The lights above us were so bright that I felt like I was in a police interrogation room. when they lowered the lights for us the waitress came over and we said the it was much better and she said, "Yeah for you." At the completion of the meal we ordered dessert and coffee and my latte was given to my wife by mistake and the waiter said to my wife, "Make sure you tell your husband that you took it and I didn't make a mistake." I was then given a replacement latte that was not a latte. It was not frothy and was lumpy. The waiter said that the guy who made the other latte's didn't make mine...he did. It was disappointing. I told him I didn't want it. He brought me another one which was good but at this point it was too little too late. Needless to say we won't be going back and did not leave a tip.
