don't go!
The Maitre’d was rude and abrupt, the waiter made a show of looking at his watch when we stated that we would need another minute before ordering (the first time we asked for another minute) even though the kitchen didn’t close for another 45 minutes, they clearly were perturbed, no, made a show of their perturbed-ness of our order (no appetizers, only one course, no prima and seconda) AND that we were using a coupon, which was why we were there. Never again.

Skip it.
The food was disappointing for a moderately priced restaurant. This was more than moderately priced making the experience all the more disappointing.

Love it!
I have been going to Arno's for years and the food is fantastic. It's a little on the expensive side but well worth it.

Oasis
Arno Ristorante's reviews here suggested that it might fit the bill. Further, when we called to check on availability, we were told to come in. We arrived to find a smattering of occupied tables, but on a Monday night, this was to be expected. Wine by myself seemed unnecessary my children had already opted for water instead of the standard panoply of soft drinks, so I cannot speak to the wine selection. We had a difficult time on an antipasto selection, finally electing to share an "Assortimento Caldo" (assorted hot antipasto) providing us all some variety to suit our individual tastes. Our meals were a la carte, which suited the occasion, particularly when my son does not voluntarily ingest either salads or soups, and with my wife at home, I didn't push the point. For our entrees, I ordered one variant of veal scallopini (which was a special for the day), while my daughter selected another from the menu. We both tasted each other's, and we both found that them equally outstanding, with the veal the perfect thickness to cut easily with a fork, and the respective sauces were so acceptable to my children, that they wiped my daughter's and my own plate clean with the table bread. Only decorum prevented me from joining in. Far from disapproving my childrens' excesses, the Italian staff was to a person, consistently friendly, attentive, and striking an intriguing balance between humor and professionalism. My son chose, as I expected, an American-cut and-prepared steak, and after our waiter confirmed the choice, it came out prepared medium rare and perfectly to my son's liking. The deserts were touted as made on-site, and my children and I sampled four equally. I nominally had Tiramisu, my son had a white mousse and chocolate concoction, and my daughter chose a rice pudding. I had mine with a very acceptable cup of black coffee. All in all, 3 excellent meals!

Disappointed
We were really looking forward to a good experience but had the opposite. We were given regular menus but not the prix-fixe menus mentioned on their website. We asked for them and received them but when we asked for the lobster dish we were told they were out of lobster. Likewise, when we asked for the pasta and sausage dish, they were out of sausage. And this was on a Saturday evening! When we received the check, we were charged for coffee and dessert even though both were part of the prix-fixe menu. When asked why, the waiter blamed it on someone else and apologized. Beautiful restaurant but we left feeling unsettled and a bit annoyed.

very good for Midtown
I work in the midtown area and have gone to Arno's on a couple of occassions. The italian food is good and the service is wonderful. Waiters actually speak in Italian which is a bonus! If you have a business lunch or want to have a bit of old class dining Arno's is a sure bet!

Best place near Penn
I have eaten here many times over the past 8 years, and it is always a lovely experience. Food is always fresh and tasty and the waiters can't do enough for you. There is nothing else in this neighborhood to compare it to, unless you're up for a huge, heavy meal at Keen's. Going back tonight!
