Sexy Armani
I was expecting a typical clean and minimal Armani look and was shocked at the sensuousness of the space. This is Armani, sexed-up. There is a modern, organic sexiness about the place, from the leather banquettes to the dramatic lighting. As an architect, I must say that this restaurant has the best lighting I have ever seen and experienced, dark where it should be, while the tables are spot lit so you can see the food. The dishes had superb flavors, I had the shrimp croquettes, crispy light outside and super creamy and bursting with shrimp flavor inside. My companion's scallops were also delicious, it had shavings of summer truffles, really sublime. I had the beef with chianti sauce and parmesan flan that was out of this world and my friend, what she calls the most perfect spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce (she should know, she's a good cook and lived in Rome for 10 years). The crowd is fashionable and good-looking. Even the Italian waiters look like models and were very charming.

Fantastic biz lunch for $28
My friend suggested to meet here for lunch. They offer a business lunch for $28, 3 courses with coffee and tea. The risotto I had was excellent, so was the second course of fish. My dessert choice came as a big scoop of ice cream that I couldn't even finish. We were offered any kind of coffee and tea so I asked for brewed coffee and my friend, some exotic tea. Even the coffee service was lovely, the coffee came in a porcelain pot with another pot of steamed milk. All for $28. This is amazing value.

It's okay for tourists to come here
Me and my daughters are shopping the sale season in New York. City. Lovely weather, specially when strolling down Fifth Avenue. We went into the store to look around and saw they had a restaurant. Didn't feel like going in, we had a lot of shopping bags and not so smartly dressed (we're shopping!). As we were standing awkwardly the manager asked us if we wanted to dine. No attitude, so we said yes. He promptly got all our bags together to bag check, had the waiter get us some ice cold water (it was very hot outside), and we had a very relaxing late lunch. The food was delicious. My daughters had the cold lobster salad, and the ravioli with white meats, while I had the Beef Tartare, the best Beef Tartare I have ever eaten (I'm trying to lose weight and trying to cut down on carbs). Excellent meal, nice ambiance, good service. We'll be back.

Surprisingly Good,
I was apprehensive about coming here, it's Armani, after all. But there was nothing snooty about the place, the Italian waitstaff super friendly and knowledgeable, the food is what you'll get at those sophisticated restaurants in Milan, very high level of quality in ingredients and execution. I notice this difference when I eat in the other top Italian restaurants here (that are American owned, or Ital-American chef/owners). Not the same. There's a stylistic difference, and I actually got more food in my plate at Armani than at the other supposedly top Italian restaurant in the city (and most expensive). Shocking but true!

Perfect Italian Now
We're always dining out and I'm glad we came here again. We dines at Armani 3 months ago and the food was good if a bit not very NY, more Italian style, a little 1 note. Now the food is phenomenal, they must be listening. I had the salad of mache and artichokes and a very intriguing pasta with Kamut flour. Lots of interesting pasta dishes I'd like to come here for a week-long pasta fest. The Bisteca Fiorentina is one of the best steaks I've had in the city. Service is improving (before it was like they couldn't care less). This is really great Italian food, typical of what you'd have in the sophisticated restaurants in Milan. Lots of good-looking people too, but a more diverse crowd. It's not just a ladies who lunch scene, lots of young professionals too. This is probably the best, real Italian restaurant in the city . It is expensive but not ridiculous, we paid $380 for dinner for 2 with wine and cocktails, We've paid a lot more for this quality level at other restaurants and was not satisfied. I had a good night's sleep.

service rapidly deteriorating
We had our first meal at the newly opened Armani some noths ago, to a great overall satisfaction. Regrettably, the return visit for a Sunday lunch yesterday did not confirm the impression. The food is still excellent. However, the service - in an almost empty restaurant - ranged from excruciatingly slow to condescendingly insulting. The restaurant's location and the food quality call for a major change in service: train or fire!
