pedestrian quality in the dark
The first thing one notices -the place is dark. The bar area has nice and colorful backlights, but the rest of Aquamarine is too dark. Is it to encourage "intimacy" or not to let you see what's on your plate? On my plate, I was surprised to uncover a very thick bed of penne pasta artfully disguised under a tiny piece of Chilean seabass that also came with a bowl of rice. Was pasta with rice worth over $20? I doubt it. Appetizers were nothing special, either. Overall - mediocre.

It's gone downhill
Loved it when it opened before they took on the space next door and renovated it to like three times the original size. The quality of the sushi is not as good as it was certainly not as good as it should be for their prices. The staff was nicer and more attentive when it was smaller as well. They seemed to have chosen volume over quality. It used to be one of our favorite neighborhood places. Now we don't even consider it an option anymore, unfortunately.

Smart a$$ waiter
Went to dinner recently and although the food was great and the waiter on theother hand was pretty unpleasent . He after not submitting one of two of our orders had the nerve to ask us if we were sure we place the order with him, Also after eating every meal he was like you guys can eat slower if there is no rush.

Good Food, pushy doorman
Went to this place after passing by it a million times. After the rude and pushy doorman checked our IDs, the rest was fantastic. The deco was nice and the rest of the staff was really friendly. The sushi was amazing! Really fresh and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Cooked food, thai was great. Crab dumplings were awesome. Only issue was we were sat in the back and had to deal with the spot light from the sushi bar, the rest of the place was dim and more comfy. Will def be back.

Unbelievable fusion rolls
I really like this place. The atmosphere is very sheik and modern, the service is above par with service at other restaurants in the area, and the food is awesome. If you aren't a vegetarian you should have no excuse not to try the Aquamarine roll the Buffalo Roll. It is an amazing combination of flavors that just burst in your mouth. Highly recommend it. The classic rolls are fresh and taste great, I loved the Salmon JalapeƱo roll. Definitely an above average New York sushi restaurant, one of the reasons why NY is second only to Japan for great sushi!

Pomegranate Martinis Rock!
Loved the atmosphere--my fav are the pomegranate martinis (if you couldn't tell by my title). I have to disagree with the the review that made the comment on the "go sushi" style fish. They had to have been there on an off day. I'm a sashimi lover. My experience has been fresh and delicious (love white tuna and seems not many have that). Will say the prices are rather high so while this is fairly close to home--I don't frequent it as much as I'd like.

Nothing special
Was hoping that the appearance of Aquamarine would upgrade the dining options in the area, but it's just a dressed-up fast-food asian joint. The prices are absolutely outrageous for what essentially is Go-Sushi quality fish, and the other options are pricey as well, and with just as little to recommend. There are some decent appetizers here and the nice decor makes it a cool place to get a drink, but after going here twice, I can say that this place won't ever be a consideration to get a meal at. All of the positive reviews must certainly have been written by people either affiliated with the restaurant, or people who have no idea what this stuff is supposed to taste like (and cost). The service ranges from lacking to indifferent. As an added "bonus," you can't get their lunch specials on weekends, a practice that is almost unheard of for this neighborhood.
