the food is really exellent & delicious with lots of choises. I had beer which was only 2.95 which is amazing.I really enjoyed my dinner,this became my favourite spot.

So I fancy myself a conneuiseur of sorts of indian cuisine having lived smack in curry hill and spent 6 months working abroad in delhi and Hydrebad. I absolutely love the selection at Apna Taj - their offerings are different practically everyday and sometimes if something's not on the menu, they'll go the extra mile for you - at no cost. I think they're the only ones in the city with the dinner buffet option which is under 12 bucks....that's a steal in my book. Fav. dish there is their malai kofta. also love their biryani and lamb vindaloo. yumm. would recommend over darbar which for a dollar more has "ambience" but i think that's what you're paying for really (they only offer standard fare ) and when it comes down to it, your stomach won't notice.

This was a strange eating experience, first after we arrived at 1:10 they were nearly 2tables for lunch. We got up and there were no chicken, lamb, veggies, nan, or salad. We pretty much sat down with a bunch of old pieces of fried eggplant and rice. They slowly arrived with nan which half of the restaurant ran up for, then tandoori chicken again half the place got up for. This went on for sometime, the dish's were brought in small amounts and finished quickly. Despite this place trying to starve customers the food was spot on. The onion chutney was great, the chicken tandoori smell bad, the chicken korma was just breast of chicken and a nice light sauce, and one of the veggie curry's was nice. The salad was no good, the no frill rice was bland, the appetizers were deep fried unidentified objects, and the nan wasn't special. I would never eat here again, too much weird stuff transpired. I have eaten at Apna Taj quite a few times. I find the service and the general vibe of the place excellent. The food is delicious, fresh and unpretentious. Coming from the North of India, their spices are somewhat different than those of their more familiar to New York, Southern counterparts, but are equally as tasty. I would recommend to any and everyone.

Apna Taj has great food.. the starters, dessert, and main courses are excellent. I would recommend trying the lunch or dinner buffet, which has a wide selection of vegetarian and nonvegetarian dishes. It is an excellent meal and a good value for money. For those who want to take away, I would recommend their "lunchbox", which is also very filling!

Fresh, healthy and delicious - of all the Indian restaurants in the area, this one has wonderful food, fast, generous and reliable delivery, an ever-changing array of exotic dishes, and if you're vegetarian or on South Beach diet (as I sometimes try to do) and don't want rice or potatoes, or prefer a whole wheat roti instead of nan, they do it with smiles. (We get dhal instead.) The food is really lovely - we have two Londoners in this office who use Apna Taj exclusively. Apna Taj has become our office's sort of informal HQ. The pakora really rocks, and the raita is excellent. You always get a warm welcome here. They have heart , a rare quality around here, and this is where we tend to bring clients and friends.

This one is a gift to the neighborhood. An attractive, comfortable room. Honest tasty food prepared with integrity; moderately priced, eager to please. A totally satisfying experience. In fact, it's the only Indian delivery we take now.
