    Changing Times

Though the food and atmosphere are still quite nice, the restaurant has changed quite dramatically over the last two months. I almost didn't recognize the dining room with a new (and crowded) round table layout, and the familiar and friendly staff seems to have disappeared, giving way to a younger, less experienced bunch within a month. The portion sizes have also noticably decreased. Still, the meatballs are the best in town, but at this rate they too may disappear from the menu!

    Fantastic Find

It's hard to believe all Apizz' dishes are made in their brick oven yet, they succeed brilliantly. An innovative manager/cocktail waitress/waiter oversees a staff of energetic professionals and, the results are simple: wonderfully prepared food and, an equally enjoyable evening. Rather than the tiresome and, insipid butter or oil which most restaurants offer with bread, Apizz presents its tasty and crusty bread with homemade ricotta and, rustic tomato sauce; it's heavenly delicious. For starters, we enjoyed the crispy procsutti over pears and, fresh parmigiano with a balsamic vinegar reduction and, sweetened walnuts. Dinner, we had the lasagna with braised wild boar and, open ravioli with ricotta & mascarpone and, roasted butternut squash - -both fantastic. Apizz might be an 'out of the way' restaurant but, its food necessitates the effort to find!

    Nice atmosphere

My friend & I went here to this jewel on the L.E.S . We found the ambiance to be wonderful. I kept thinking this is a perfect date spot... from the downstairs waiting lounge, to the dining rooms lowly lit glow, striking decor. The restaurant is classy, and has a intimate feel. The food was delivered quickly & was delicious. The particular waiter we had seemed a bit out of place in the setting, being very quirky, talkative, but other than that was wonderful. Def. will keep going back.

    Excellent food and atmosphere

It was my wife's first time in NYC for dinner. I wanted the food to be good, but I wanted the experience to be better. We got both. A perfect meal to end a perfect trip to the city.

    Apizz, a plus

Six of us had a truly NY experience last night. Loved the off the beaten path location. On the first cool night of the season, a cozy and comfortable dining room. The waiter was wonderful and attentive enough. Loved the lasagna, open ravioli with carmelized butternut squash, fried asparagus and artichoke hearts, gelato sundae to end a perfect night. Price was right and look forward to visiting again.
