Great Food, Bordeaux and Ambiance...
Went to AOC last night with friends based on reviews and reputation. Was not disappointed. Make sure you ask for a table in the garden out back. The New York Strip with peppercorn sauce was cooked to perfection medium-rare as requested and a glass of Bordeaux completed my satisfaction . I'll be trying their new Park Slope location as well.

Let's go
I'm lovin'it! I go there almost every day and I got a little bothered by the revues... This is the best place in the neighborhood, that's it! The menu never changes (only a couple stuff added over the years), that's what a bistro is for! A diner doesn't change menu right? And they're all the same pretty much. Well, a bistro is the french version of a diner, for those who seem confused. The back and garden are way more comfortable that what it used to be 5 years ago, there was a lot of improvement, Plus I just saw a couple days ago they've opened the back bar for the whole week (before only on WE), that's great, there's more room than at the front where I used to feel a little compacted when it was busy. Great food, great wine list, great cocktails, nice waitstaff (true, sometimes not all there when busy). GO, you'll see.

A Very Nice Place
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Everytime my wife and I come here it is a pleasurable experience. The food is great and the outside garden is actually very cozy. Will be going back tonight.

Rather blah
Went to AOC the other day again: returned really for the outside seating under the trees, but they cut a lot of branches and didn't plant any greenery, so it's way less cosy than it was last year. As for the food, it's rather uninspired and generic. They haven't changed the menu in years and pretty much everything is about $5 overpriced for the quality of food that you get. Mussels were ok, but, really, how hard is it to screw up mussels? Now that even the atmosphere is not that great any more, I am not coming back.

french food, cold fries?
Yes, Coq-au-vin, petit sale au lentilles, cassoulet, croque-monsieur, escargots, steak au poivre, bearnaise sauce (for te steak for 2), foie-gras, duck confit,... even "steak a cheval" are typical french foods. if you steel think it's an american retaurant after you met the owner/chef (who is a young french fella), you didn't get anything then. Go to france, see what's eaten in the same kind of places (casual) and realise... Ooh! it's the same food!! Only thing, the american item on the menu, the burger, is not proposed with cheddar or american cheese (if we can still call it chees since it's not made with milk). For the rest, french food is just food that is popular in france, no there's nothing french about a vegetable soup, but we do eat a lot of those blended soups in france, that's it, it makes sense to see it on a french menu. My question is what is for you, american, french food? And at last, take a side of french fries to go, in the restaurant, taste them... And now walk all the way to your house (especilly if you live at about a 10 min walk) and taste again: see how they're cold and not good, now you understand what happened in your delivery. A.O.C is a good casual french place that is sometimes too buisy to deliver a good service to everyone and that plays music loudly even when you don't want it. but again, it's not suppose to be a fancy place

Noisy, Rude, Mediocre
They're the only French(ish) food that delivers in the area, but they frequently seem to have to decide again and again if they really want to. Often they will state they are just randomly not delivering or ask me if they have delivered before and on occasion, argue we are outside the delivery area. Delivery is just about all this place is worth... the noisy atmosphere and bitchy waitstaff make it amazingly unpleasant to dine in. As far as French food goes, another reviewer was correct in stating it's really more an American cafe with French staff... so, fatty mediocre food combined with a French attitude without the un-rushed dining etiquette makes this a loosing combination especially with the variety of real and good French food so close by. The final straw for me came when dining-in and kept myself and a group of friends waiting over an hour for a table after telling us repeatedly it would only be 15 minutes and continued seating a number of people who came in after us. We ultimately left. That was when we moved to delivery only. But, their cold, flavorless and stiff fries combined with yet another argument about delivering has led me to cross them off my list entirely at this point. Just thought I'd save some other folks the time to bother with this overpriced and underwhelming establishment. Too bad, the outside garden is a nice idea... if only the food and staff was of the same caliber.

$11 dollars for a weak Vodka and Tonic??
I've given this place three trys. Last night was my last. Food is just O.K. Serivce is less than ok, the only thing it has going for it is atmosphere. I would like to say " Just go for a drink" but DONT!!!!! I was charged $11 for a TINY vodka and Soda. Now I don't mind paying for a good drink, but my drink was only $2 less than my Entree! I'm done with it.
