    All around absolutely fabulous

Based on a friend's raves about AOC in NYC, I took another friend here for her Bday . The food was totally delicious & the service was attentive. The waitress was very friendly & helpful. We started w/escargot which was mouth-wateringly good. The same can be said for the le mer seafood risotto--just divine. I had the lamb shank w/wonderful veggies which was outstanding. We picked the poached pear dessert to share cuz it was very b-day like w/whip cream, ice cream & choc. sauce--another winner! I usually eat in less expensive places, except when it comes to a celebration. The prices were not outrageous & did fit the occasion. My friend & I throughly enjoyed her Bday dinner.

    Great Brunch Spot!

I just got back from Brunch at AOC Bistro, and I loved it! The brunch menu is very fairly priced and the food was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive as well. I will definitely be back for brunch again and again, and will be sure to try dinner in the near future as well!

    amazing food and great service!

My husband and I were apartment searching in Park Slope and just happened upon this bistro-- the place was packed, we were seated right away, the food was amazing and the service was ridiculously attentive. I dropped my knife, and before I got down to pick it up there was a busboy giving me a new one. My water glass was never less than half full. The waiter and hostess were both friendly, passing by the table and checking on us. We ate the lamb sausage sandwhiches (huge portion, excellently cooked and spiced) and had the most relaxing and delicious time! We can't wait to move to Park Slope and make this our regular joint! We live in the city now, have eaten in all parts, and I can't say we've found a better bistro than this. My only comment-- don't order the apple tartin, it's not the best :) aside from that, this place can't be beat!

    Disappointing Experience

For the price we paid, the food was mediocre, and the portions, small. The bread is served cold, with frozen butter. Ordered a steak dish (I never had a smaller sized piece of steak in all my dining experiences), served with potato gratin (tasted like burned cheese), and a bed of greens that they probably use to mask how little was actually on the plate. And the worst part of all, was that they only take American express cards - actually had to leave the restaurant to withdraw cash! If you're going to charge the price that you do for food, at least do your customers a favor and accept other major credit cards. It's kind of ridiculous - at least advertise that fact before giving them the bill! Will definitely not return - there are much better restaurants in the area, at much better value.

The food and service is poor

I checked this restaurant out during Brooklyn Restaurant week and on a scale of 1 - 10 give this place a 1. My meal started with a bowl of very salty bread with frozen butter. Next came a glass of wine that had oxidised and tasted like vinegar. This was followed by what was supposed to be a goat cheese salad. The salad consisted of a bed of spinch leaves with a flavorless dressing and an unripe tomato topped with goat cheese wrapped in fillo. The goat cheese packet tasted like it had been reheated several times. Next came what was supposed to be coc au vin. This turned out to be scaps of chicken where every bite had a piece of bone. The food was so salty it simply was ineatable. Mixed in with this was pieces of partialy cooked bacon that gave the meal a greasy taste to go along with the salt. This was topped with pieces of Rosemary that had a very intense flavor. For dessert I was served what was supposed to be an apple tartan. This was a soggy piece of pie dough, with mushy flavorless apples served with sour cream. The atmosphere was so dark that I could not read the menu and had to have the waiter bring a candle.

    I'm pretty much a regular

I've been going here since it first opened around last year or so. When they first opened, the service had some quirks, but they ironed all of that out very quickly. Haven't had a problem since. Their food is french, but with a touch of American to it...by which I mean they have nice sized portions. My g\f cant get enough of the drinks at the bar. She likes them strong and that's how they make them. Can't complain about the prices either. The place makes for a nice date setting and wont break your wallet.

    Mediocre for the price

My overall impression of this place is that, for the price, it is not really worth it. The menu is traditional french food, which admittedly is tough to pull off. I have only been once, so I have not had a chance to try very much on it. However, their interpretation of risotto was pretty terrible. It was swimming in cream and they put way too much truffle oil in it, which can ruin a dish. It also had random veggies, like carrots and spinach. The french onion soup was mediocre, which shouldn't be the case for a traditional french restaurant. The mussels were decent and my friends seemed to like the coq au vin, but again, nothing amazing. Also, the service was not very good - our waiter seemed to know nothing about the menu, and when he came to tell us that they were out of Salmon (an ingredient for risotto de la mer), he was totally unclear as to whether they would still make the dish or if we had to choose something else. The restaurant was nearly empty and it took forever to get his attention. The prices for wine by the glass and food are on the high side. So, for the price, I will not be going back anytime soon.
