Not as good as everyone said

After I read the reviews on this page, I thought this place was going to be amazing. And the lager + citrus drink was very tasty. In fact, my food was pretty good too - I had a vegetable korma. The naan and garlic naan were below par, though. All 6 of us in our party found the portions to be rather small and unfilling, and they took a long time to be served. While our waiter was fun and entertaining, we didn't get a lot of attention. Perhaps if they had asked us if we wanted to order more drinks, we wouldn't have noticed the wait for our entrees as much.

    Wonderful All Around

I'm not usually a big fan of Indian food, but my boyfriend loves it. So, I took him there one night and I LOVED the food. I had checked out menupages to see what restaurant they suggested and I went here because they had so many glowing reviews. As suggested by one reviewer I ordered the lamb rezala - so tender it melted in your mouth. The owner was a really friendly man who asked us our names and stopped by every so often to chat and make sure we were ok. Overall, the experience was wonderful not just because the food was great, the prices reasonable, but also because the staff made you feel like you were part of the family. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal.

    Delicious Indian Food

This was my first time eating Indian food and it was a great experience. The service was great with recommending what to eat and drink, especially when they let us sample a drink and a dessert. The food was delicious, the flavors were fresh and the chicken and beef were tender and tasty. I definitely recommend ordering the specialty drink that is made from a light lager and lemondade. This will now be our Indian spot to eat at!

    Unparalleled

Absolutely the best Indian food in New York. Several items on the menu you won't find elsewhere; everything fresh and delicious. Ample portions, great value. A true standout, especially compared to the others on 6th Street.

    Best Indian in NYC!

Last night me and my gf decided to venture off to 6th street to try some authentic Indian cuisine, and in typrical New York fashion, it began to sporadically rain, so we ran for cover and stumbled upon Angon. Now I've eaten at many Indian establishments throughout NYC, and some restaurants were better than others, but Angon is simply the best in terms of value and quality. Without a doubt, the service at Angon is top notch, the owner and his servers are extremely attentive to your needs, without seeminly intrusive or overbearing. I asked him to make some suggestions since I was bored of the same old chicken tikka massala. So he suggested we start off with an order of Samosa Chat and Chicken wings with Tandoori Massala, this proved to be a great choice since it was a perfect combination of sweet and salty, and more importantly it wasn't greasy or overfilling. To complement our appetizers we ordered a 2004 Shiraz which accentuated the flavors in our food. He then suggested the Bhuna Gosht (Lamb) ,Palak Ponir, and Begun Achar (eggplant) which was simply delicious. Again, the flavors mixed very well, but more astonishing, they actually tailored the "spice level" in our dishes to our expectations. Overall, Angon was a great experience, and I will be sure to return for some authentic Indian cuisine.
