Not what it used to be

Not sure what has happened... This place used to be very good: excellent food, great service, and a warm and cozy atmosphere. Gave it another shot after reciving even less than mediocre service last time I went there (including a waiter who simply left in the middle of our meal -without returning, leaving us without anyone to replace him, interestingly enough...!). I figured it was simply a down-day. Apparantly not so... Although the food itself was still fine/good, it was nothing super-special... It is also pricy when compared with other Indian restaurants, now serving comparable or even better food! It is sad, I used to love this place and I was willing to pay the slightly higher prices, but I will be looking elsewhere from now on.

    Bland, mediocore

Was at the restaurant last night and am puzzled by the positive reviews. The food was mediocre, the ambiance kitschy, (expected with Indian restaurants, admittedly) and the service was non-attentive. Not recommended in the least.

    Superb Quality & Amazing service

This Quaint little place does not look great from the outside but once inside you are welcomed by very friendly staff. Ask for Milton he is amazing and will go over the menu with you and help you pick dishes accordingly! Palak Ponir & Chickwen Corma were amazing!

    great food!

had a table of 7 and so were able to try so many dishes - each one was great quality and flavors. and the bill was also a great surprise - $250 for 7 people!! they've done a nice job with the decor - it feels cozy and all the staff are so friendly. will definitely be coming back!

    Not recommended

Food lacked taste. The tandoori dishes were cold and barely cooked, even hot tea was served cold. Never again!

    Wonderful (and Gluten-free friendly)

I love Indian food and this is some of the best I've ever had (including in India.) The vegetables are fresh and not greasy, the spicing is subtle, the service is attentive (always ask if Milton, co-owner with his sister, is there - he's great.) AND if you don't eat wheat, they will make you delicious rice nan. Try the eggplant appetizer (w/tamarind - delicious) and any saag. The okra is also very good. And the tandoori chicken wings are the best ever.

    Atrocious.

My boyfriend and I just got back from here and had probably the worst meal either of us has ever had in New York. We asked for the window seat and were put next to a "window" made from plexiglass and sealed with paper towels. The candle had sauce spilled all over the sides from past dinners, and the tablecloth was dirty. We ordered the tandoori shrimp and tandoori vegetables, as we're both watching fat intake. The coriander chutney was very good -- the only good part of the meal. Our tandoori shrimp involved 8 small shrimps on an appetizer-sized plate with some barely-cooked onion and green pepper slices. The veggie tandoori was huge chunks of barely-cooked vegetables (I honestly could not even stab the carrot chunk with my fork), mostly onion and green pepper, with two pieces of cauliflower, two pieces of broccoli, and two large tomato halves. Both shrimp and veggies had apparently been dusted with tandoori powder and stuck under a broiler just long enough to cook the shrimp (hence the barely-cooked veggies). Just desperate to get out of there, we scarfed down our food, waited a long time for the check and our change, and left. Never to return.
