Service was great, food- so-so
Went here for Father's Day with 2 babies (brought my own booster seats). They were able to accommodate us, and our server was wonderful! I had been here many times before the new management took over and the menu was revamped. BIG disappointment -- my favorite house salad changed from a delicious buttermilk ranch dressing over crispy greens that could feed a table of 3-4, to an overly dressed, soggy chopped mess. The steaks (porterhouse and 12 oz. filet were just ok, not properly seasoned. The asparagus side was very good- perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. New management better get it in gear, or they'll lose their loyal fans.

Wont be back
I have been a patron for many years. The restaurant has been decling for many years now and I will not return again. Service is poor, state of the facility have deteriorated, and the quantity and quality of the food has been reduced to low end staek houses. Save your time and money.

Not happy with new management
Went to dinner lastnight at Angelo & Maxie's for my birthday and was I disappointed. Have been going there since they opened due to the porterhouse for two. My meal was always consistently good, but no longer. They used to give you two sides with the meal, but not anymore. The steak was okay (didn't taste as though it were charcoal broiled) and the portion was smaller. We were told by the waitress that the porterhouse went from 42 oz. to 40 oz under new ownership, but the price went up. If they plan on making this restaurant work, they better figure something out soon. Will not be back anytime soon for such a mediocre dinner. Extremely disappointed.

Lunch a bargain
I meet friends here for lunch, occasionally. Never crowded during lunch & the service varies from pretty okay to really fine. The steaks are very good (I did taste tenderizer once, but it was not pronounced.) The sides are very good & if you take the lunch special (advertised outside) it's a real bargain.

Don't bother
With so many great steak houses in NYC., there is no reason to spend your money at this place.. After a long day at work I decided to treat myself to a steak dinner. I was ignored by my server who seemed annoyed that I was dining alone for a steak after 9.. My steak was small and tough.. If You want a mediocre steak goto you local diner,, it's half the price and staff will appreciate your business..

Loved it for years and still going back.
I am shocked at the bad rap A&M gets on menu pages. I have loved this place for years and have never been let down there. What with all the complaints about the price? It's the least expensive steak restaurant in NYC and the best value. Sides are great, bread basket rocks, the cold seafood platter blows most seafood restaurants out of the water. Never had an issue with service either. Only problem I do have with A&M is they are very bad about honoring reservations and the Maitre D' acts like he is doing you a favor to sit you 30 minutes after your reservation.

Avoid at all cost!
Craving a good steak? This place will only lead to disappointment. If you're going to spend this kind of money, there are at least a dozen other steakhouses in the city that would be a better option. First, they overcooked my steak -- literally well done -- after I ordered medium rare. They quickly took it away, only to replace it with a "peppered" version I didn't order. After four bites my mouth was on fire and I realized they had screwed up again. Honestly, who eats steak like that anyway? Unfortunately, the waiter didn't see fit to return to our table until some time later. By then I had given up on my barely touched steak and on Angelo and Maxie's. I told the waiter they messed up my order for the second time and he said, "sorry for the mix up." To my dismay, when the bill came they still had the audacity to charge me for the full amount. After screwing my order up twice and never bringing me what I ordered... REALLY? Seriously, just go somewhere else where you know you'll get great steak, done the way you want, excellent service, and good value. Don't risk going here. Need suggestions? Peter Luger's, Old Homestead, Mark Joseph's, Delmonico's, Del Frisco's, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Strip House, Primehouse and Outback (yes Outback is better). I could go on...
