    Excellent Bahn Mi and Pho

Great service, good music. Excellent crispy pig Bahn Mi. The chicken Pho was also sensational. Prices were beyond reasonable. Will def be back for more.

    Me like

Even with all the cheapo Vietnamese places in Chinatown nearby, I'm glad An Choi is around. The crispy spring rolls are the best I've had and the pho is really good if you like a clean, almost delicate broth, which I find I do. I wish their prices were better or that they gave one more spring roll to the order. It's like 5.50 for three. C'mon. Don't get the summer rolls if you're expecting better than average summer rolls. Haven't tried the banh mi yet. I also wish they would deliver or let you take out the pho. I understand there's quality control involved but there should be a way to package everything separately so things don't get too lost in translation. It's a cute restaurant but sometimes one doesn't want to eat pho in a hipster shack because one is snotty and sick. They also need to package the aromatics separately from any hot item (spring roll). Any Chinatown place knows this and just stuffs all the basil and leafage in a bag. Done.

    YUM

What a gem! Cute atmosphere and super yummy. I thought for the quality and scene (hey it's the LES, not chinatown!) was definitely worth the price. Love the crispy pork and chicken salad would definitely go again...and again.

better than the other vietnamese joints on NYC

the beef pho at an choi is probably the best i've had in nyc. why? 1) the noodles taste fresh and al dente, 2) the broth is aromatic (i can smell the spices like star anise), tasty, clean, not murky, watery? it's soup for god's sake, and no dry, thirsty msg aftertaste like the ones in chinatown. i've been to falls church, va, san jose, ca, and orange county, ca and vietnam so i know what good pho tastes like and this is comparable. they could have more selections of beef like tendon, tripe, and nam. have you looked at the herb plate, they even have saw grass leaf. no place in chinatown has that! go try with an open mind!

tastes great, clean, and great atmosphere

I agree with scandale!, sure you can get a sandwich for $4 in chinatown, but you sometimes get that grizzle—damn nasty, and those places are f'n dirty. not so at an choi, the sandwiches have been stellar and it's really clean. the contrast between the savory caramelized onions and the tangy pickled carrots and radish of the Banh Mi Ga Nuong was really awesome. they have some kinks to work out with A/C and getting their experience up with wait staff, but the food quality, flavor, and atmosphere are great.
