Great For Birthday Cakes!
Amy's Bread gets better and better. I bought a yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting for a friend's birthday two weeks ago and people are still talking about it. Leave Magnolia and Billy's etc to the trend-seekers. Also, Amy's baguettes and sweets are just plain amazing.

Decent food, bad attitude
I have been here for lunch several times and overall have been pleased with the food. The ingredients taste pretty fresh, and the menu is a bit small but varied. The biggest downside is the staff. They're impossibly rude. Sometimes the person who takes your order is fine, but invariably the attitude cranks up the closer you get to the check-out counter. If you don't mind your sandwich with a side of surly, then this is your place.

great!
The wait staff is very personable - In addition to super breads (love the Pumpernickel with currents, Onion Dill) their sandwiches are very fresh - Tuna, Cheddar Cheese w/ chipotle pepper puree, Hummus etc. are particularly good and not to mention the cakes - red velvet and chocolate devils food....Yikes !! Run don't walk !!

Bread? Ha ha
let me begin by saying I LOVE bread. thus, I was super excited to have Amy's bread so close to my workplace. the first item i bought here was the corn muffin and it was very disappointing. There had been absolutely no sugar added and tasted like a really bad diet muffin. Thankfully there wasn't excess oil otherwise I wouldnt have given it a second chance. The next time I bought the chocolate foccaccia twist. The bread was dry and did not incorporate the chocolate well. I would have been more satisifed with a snickers. the last time i went and will go to Amys bread, i decided to go simple with the irish soda bread...i don't know how they could have even thought of selling this if the raisins were not thrown in , and the challach dinner roll. challach bread is meant to be buttery/doughy/sweet, not dry and flaky as was the case. i do not recommend eating here for simple baked items.

Love the scones
This was my first trip to New York and we loved the city and loved Amy's Bread. Her scones are the best I've had. We bought the cherry cheese scone for the plan ride back to New Orleans and after my first bite, I wished I had bought six more. The service was great and the coffee was too. I will surely come back on my next trip and tell everyone I know about Amy's.

delicious cupcakes!
I know everyone raves about magnolia, or crumbs amongst other bakeries as having the best cupcakes. But I truly think that Amy's has the best cupcake I've had in this city so far (and I've tried quite a few places). I'm not sure about the chocolate ones because I've never had them, but the vanilla cupcakes with pink buttercream frosting are little pieces of heaven...the frosting has just enough sugar but not too much, and the cake is wonderful.
