This is the most unappetizing food ever. Canned greens, under cooked mac/cheese and not sure what cut of beef my steak was. Tables falling apart, chairs hard and the floor sticky. The waiter took the order then we never saw him again until it was "tip time". Its a tourist trap. The best part of the whole thing was the fact that the subway is less than 150 feet from the front door so we could run from there.

Nothing is so special about this place. If you like greasy food, you may like here. I got heart burn from their grits. People especially tourists line up to get in this place every weekend. Why?

Great chicken n waffles
If you are looking for a good spot for breakfast/brunch don't hesitate to try Amy Ruth's.I think they put vanilla in the waffle batter b/c the whole restaurant has this lovely vanilla smell. Even their coffee is good here and that's nearly impossible to find in a b'fast spot in Harlem. It's no wonder there are often lines to get in here. Warning: do not sit upstairs...the orange paint is UG-LY and will put you off your food.

Not that good
Living in Harlem for 15 yrs, I've stopped expecting much in regards to service or great food. Amy Ruth's is no exception. I went on a friday, no lines at the Take-out, very few customers dining in, 4 waiter bustling about, and no one wanted to take my order - why, b/c no tip when you take out. Finally, a waiter said if you wait, I'll take your order -- guess who didn't wait. The food isn't even that good, but I was too lazy to cook that night. So everyone who claims they love this place, I wonder if they know real Southern Cuisine, b/c this ain't it.

I'll be back
Sylvia's for the experience but when you're done being a tourist and you just want good food, it's AmyRuth's. Short Ribs were great. Collard Greens were excellent. BEST Mac & Cheese in town. Had to get another order for later that night. Fried chicken wings aren't anything interesting. Can't wait to try their other choices.
