Service is way too slow for a diner in Manhattan!

Typical, family friendly, NYC diner setting with friendly (but not too friendly) service. Better than average preparation, fresh and tasty food. A decent value, though not cheap. I'll be back.

Place a simple morning breakfast order that had missing food, and items that were not in the order. Paid in cash and no refund of money.

Nice to see you back online again, but ... as a loyal EJ's customer for about two decades I have to say the new direction you have taken is really disappointing. You used to have great fish entrees - now it's just "pan-seared" which is code for breaded, fried and left on the steam table for a day or more. What happened to blackened blue fish with mango chutney? Grilled salmon teryaki? Steamed bass with ginger/scallion and ponzu sauce? Sole with lemon caper butter? And the creative rice sides that went with them. (Remember vegetable brown rice? I do and long to taste it again.) And once upon a time there was lime celantro chicken not just in a salad, but as an entree. And, guess what? I used to pay more than $10.95 for those dishes -- before the recession -- and would be willing to do so again. Hungry on 86th Street.

hey i just wanted to tell everybody that if you ate at EJ's but had a really bad time i wanted you to know about the NY Strip Steak. I mean if you really want to test a restaurant out you should order the most expensive item on the menu. well, i had the steak and it was delicious. EJ's is the place to go for steak! can't miss.

My wife, daughter, and I stumbled upon EJ's at the recommendation of a local Upper West Sider we chatted with on the street. So we tried the place-- so glad we did! We just had burgers, but they were extremely tasty and made to order. Steak fries were perfect and service was friendly but not overbearing. Don't know how breakfast is, but if you're just looking for a really great burger and fries-- along with servers who actually listen when you ask them for something-- EJ's is for you. Highly recommended!

Years ago, this place ruled. Now it is in ruins. Everything tasted as if it were from a can, or previously frozen!! Now I know why EJ's is soo empty. Very poor cafeteria quality!!
