Arrogant and bad service
The food is typical for midtown--fine, but not exceptional, and occasionally interesting. So I return with great hope. But each time I've been, the service has been either arrogant or non-existent. The waiters are slow and make a show of ignoring you. Every meal, whether lunch or dinner, becomes torturous as you try to get a waiter to pay attention. Go anyplace else in the neighborhood. You'll have a better time.

Overdone/overpriced
I enjoy fine dinning as much as the next guy but I was expecting something more out of this restaurant. The food portions were very small and did not have that authentic greek mediteranian feel. The Music was too loud during dinner service and the space was cold/ uninviting. The only redeamable characteristic of the place was the service. Our waiter was courtious and never left our wine glasses empty. Maybe they are trying to get us drunk to hide the fact that their food is not up to par.

Poor Service Quality
I have been here a few times and will say that the food at Ammos is wonderful the Oktapadi is especially delicious and not fishy at all. I don't believe I have ever complained about anything in a restaurant or sent anything back but yesterday I went to Ammos for an important business lunch and have never been so annoyed by service in my life. When we got there we told our waiter that we were in a bit of a rush so naturally after we were seated he returned promptly, 15 minutes later to give us menus. The whole lunch took over two hours and it was simply impossible to get our waiters attention. We had a table of 8 people and the lunch was probably ~$800 so I would think that you might be able to come back more often then every half hour to check on us. The apetizers were cold when they got there and they didn't have the entree that I wanted. Overall it was a poor experience and I will never be back nor will I recomend this restaurant to anyone else. I did not yell at our waiter because I will never do that but I have never been more upset with the service anywhere. You can get very over priced food anywhere in midtown and I suggest taking that advice and going else where if you are in a hurry at all.

Great "happy hour" value on Fridays!
If you go on a Friday night and sit in the bar area, which is very nice, everything is half-price. I mean, everything: drinks and food. It's a fabulous deal! I went with some friends and had a great time. We each had drinks and appetizers. Everything was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the Krya Oretika, which is a selection of spreads served with grilled pita. To die for! We'll be back.

Not Worth It
I went here on a recent Friday with some work colleagues, anticipating some good Greek food in a nice atmosphere. The food was mediocre to poor. The space is quite nice, and it looks like they have a nice wine selection. I might give it a second try but, at first blush, it's not worth it.

What a Surprise!
I went out to dinner after work in Midtown not expecting much from a place I thought catered to the business-lunch crowd. I also know very little about Greek food . . . to my pleasant surprise I had an amazing meal complimented with phenomenal service. Our waiter described each dish, and at one point the chef came out to high light the tuna collar (yes, the collar bone of a tune fish). Everything was cooked to perfection - for example the sea scallops hit that fine balance of not-too-chewy and not-too-mushy. I look forward to going back and digging into another tuna collar with a couple friends.
