Wow! Really good food !
I ordered delivery from Alma, when i was stuck at home, and was pleasantly surprised at what a good value, and how delicious it was . Today I was able to go by and eat at the restaurant, and was even more astounded that it wasn't crowded to the gills. The food is exceptional, in that it is very fresh and very different from the other Indian places in our neighborhood. I would love to try everything on the menu. I have never had Coconut Chutney and now i crave it :) Try this place particularly for lunch, great value, good food

You owe it to your health and taste buds
Here is a restaurant that offers whole food along with a simple and cordial customer experience. Evidenced by an authentic taste and smooth digestion, the meals are clearly prepared without excessive sugar, oil, salt or food additives and I have rated it accordingly. I recommend Amla without reservations as it represents only a pinch of restaurants in NYC that I eat in that live up to the standard.

Great Addition
I had seen this space coming up and looked like they never will open. I just returned to find the place is open & what a great it has turned out to be. I was there on Labor Day with my family. The restaurant was busy, the simple interior looks beautifu and very clean. Excellent quality food and service. They are little costlier than the other place but value for money. Lamb sookah was the pick of the dishes as was the Goan Garlic Shrimp. A complimentary dessert called Firni (dont remember the full name) was outstanding. The Manager who checked on our table explained the menu and the name 'Amla' in detail and to my curios Moms satisfaction. All in all a great meal. shall certainly return. By the way the waitress who served us was among the most joyous person to work a floor anywhere! It is bit noicy and good for quiet discussions.

Two strikes, you're out
I will not say that Alma is awful, it has excellent rice, but I ordered the lamb and it was so chewy (and fatty) I wondered if it'd been cooked properly, but the sauce was tasty. I ordered this same meal two days in a row. Both days the lamb was poor, and the condiments were inconsistent, as one day the mango chutney was plentyful and the next a tiny amout and the mint was missing. The dal is tasteless. The paratha was excellent. OK, two attemps and I'm not going back for a third.

Most amazing Indian Food In NYC!
My husband and I were thrilled to find this place on the UWS, after our beloved Earthen Oven closed. The food was quite honestly some of the best Indian food that I have ever had. The waiter was absolutely amazing, and the Chef, we were thrilled to learn, was the former Chef at Earthen Oven. The food was prepared with such care, detail and quality, was could not get over the delectability! A MUST GO!

Great food and delivery
I rarely write reviews, but I had to write about Amla because my food was amazing. I got the paneer skewers and the baingan bhartha. Both were delicious and tasted so fresh. The seasoning was done just right. The person who took my order was also extremely friendly and the delivery was quick. I will definitely try it again!

Amazing!
Just had dinner at Amla and I was so impressed. The ambiance, the service, the menu, the food....just excellent. I love Indian food and so I know when I'm getting quality experience. I hope they keep it up even when they become very popular.
