If you want wonderful coffeeshop food, a real UES neighborhood feeling, and good service this is the best place. I go in all the time and LOVE their soups (especially the barley and chicken soup), burgers, and club sandwhiches. Yummy!

I am a frequent customer at Amity, and the people there are always so friendly. The service is great, and depending on the time it takes to make the meal, I always get my food very quickly, and piping hot!!!!

...except for the waiters! I went there with 3 of my girlfriends, and they were way too "friendly". It came to a point where their "friendliness" became somewhat rude and creepy. They called my friend with curls "Curly", commented on the fact that I got the only dish without meat. I suppose it was a comfortable environment, but this was a little too close.

I have been a frequent customer since I was in school when I was living in the neighborhood. It's like going home each time I drop by for a snack or meal. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the food is always excellent. Highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for a casual good meal.

Always order from here for lunch. Fish Filet sandwich is excellent, as are their omlettes. Also, great place to stop after work for a couple of beers and greasy mozzarella sticks! Friendly people!

Have experienced many "diners" through-out manhattan: in the village; west village, west side..and New Amity (so East Side/Madison Ave!) has the most remarkable (feta-cheese) omelette going. The staff and kitchen have been there forever (read that as stable!) and quality, taste and service are as good as it gets only better when considering other "NYC" staples like Joe Jr's and Bon Bonarie... And yes the chicken salad and burgers are alsso first rate.

A friend of mine works at the met and took me here for lunch one day. We waited a while for a table, but it was totally worth it! The food was excellent (especially the burgers!) and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely go back there when I'm in the neighborhood.
