    Let's Not Get Crazy...

Ambrosia really is what it is. An average diner when average diner food that is, if nothing else, very reliable. You know what you'll get. Whether it's a bacon cheeseburger, hot open turkey sandwich, meatloaf, or anything else, the food will be good. Not great, but good enough. Make no mistake, the atmosphere is a total throwback to 1970s New York diners with mildly brusque service and the occasional dirty napkin under the table. But, this place is definitely part of a dying breed. While other similar diners renovate and hike menu prices, Ambrosia seems to stick to what works: basic diner food at very reasonable prices. This is not a place to write home about, but it is a comfy and casual neighborhood diner that serves a very good breakfast and doesn't disappoint with other dishes if your expectations are reasonable. The service is not nearly as bad as some other reviewers make it sound.

    I Love Ambrosia

i have to saw i was shocked to see someone call the waitstaff rude. "the lady" as she was referred to is not an owner (i believe the greek gentleman is) BUT she is wonderful and knows regular customer orders...is very quick to take orders and food comes extremely swift as well. I have had every meal at this place. my breakfast which always totals to 4.60 (cheaper than my cup of starbucks!) includes: 2 eggs, breakfast potatoes, tons of bacon, coffee or tea, orange juice, and toast. sometimes they also bring out fresh fruit if they have it. FRESH melon, cantelope, etc.. These folks dont dote on you by any means...they are there to help get you your meal quickly and cheaply.. Some things i prefer over others in the dinner category...but for all it includes (house wine, soup or salad, bread, main course) i have no complaints. Actually one time i didnt like the soup of the day and they immediately brought me a different one. my favorite go to diner in the city!!

    eh..

This place has great breakfast in my opinion. Breakfast is all I've ever had there. I enjoy it every time I go there though. I go there quite often too. It's very tight quarters and there's a good chance you wont fit in the bathroom. They dont speak much english there but they have never messed up my order.

    Disastrous phone order

I basically tried to order over the phone and told them by buzzer was broken and to call me on my cell when the food arrived so I could come down to pick it up. Whoever picked up refused to do this and after arguing about why he could not do this he hung up on me! For a diner, that's a rough way to do business!

    Just another diner

Nothing really special about Ambrosia. Ate breakfast there every Saturday for the last 6 weeks. (not by choice). Ive only seen two servers there. I think they own the place. The lady is rude and short with everyone. The man has his moments. One thing i do like about this place is their toasted blueberry muffins. Actually the muffin isnt even that good - i just like it toasted. overall i dont recommend this place.
