    Inexpensive Ingredients, Expensive Menu Price

The decoration is really creative, yet a bit too dark and it’s almost like walking into a rainbow they use so many different colors. I’ll cut to the chase here, the sushi rolls are expensive, and are not worth it. With vast experience in Asia, this was a disappointment. The rolls have creative and intriguing descriptions, but are not very good. The tempera flakes were chemically processed out of a grocery jar, kind of like those stale bacon bits being used instead of actual bacon. As far as the sushi rolls, I’d admonish all from wasting your wallet and palette. The other dishes, ask others as I do not plan on returning (the true test of how good a restaurant is).

    I will miss this place!

Amber is amazing. I have lived on the UES for 2 years and LOVE sushi- have never been able to find a place as good. I started off ordering take out from them. I thought the sushi was incredible. I thought the take out was good- then I actually went there and it blew me away. The sushi was so fresh. I am moving next month, and will miss this place.

    Disappointing

In a city full of sushi restaurants, why waste your time or money or even bother to get upset over a sushi restaurant that has poor service and lackluster food. After our sushi arrived (after 55 mins) without any soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger (sushi staples!) we called and asked them to please send it over immediately. Needless to say, not a good experience and honestly have had much better sushi (with or without soy sauce) elsewhere. Just trying to save someone else from this disappointing experience.

    Great food and atmosphere

This is a great date place, with a refreshing modern, clean atmosphere. The food is outstanding, especially the specialty rolls. The duck with mango sauce is cooked to perfection. The wait staff did not rush us and we were able to eat each course with breathing time in between, which is seemingly sparse around the area. Highly recommend, great atmosphere and awesome dishes.

    Amber Did It!

My husband introduced me to his sushi obsession, and since we live uptown Amber seemed our next logial stop. The atmosphere is dark, sexy and inviting-- a great date place with spectacular drinks. I had their version of the mojito and was knocked, ahem, off of my feet from the very beginning! My husband ordered the duck, which I could not keep my chopsticks out of. Delicious! We also ordered Miso soup (sparse on the tofu and scallions) and sushi. The sushi was terribly fresh...I mean, it is truly some of the best I've had in the city. The only downsides: the waitresses were hover-y, which was annoying! Also, our seat was in the rear of the restaurant , which is a really sultry area...except for the huge window that overlooks a dry cleaners on 80th street. We asked if they could drop the curtain that was there and they refused. Once in, though, you could forget that you were on the UES. Overall, this place was EXCELLENT. Oh, and about the bathrooms-- they really are very cool!

    great food, great decor

I recently went here for a friends birthday and it was great. The food was really flavorful and the specialty rolls were different from those at most sushi restaurants. This is a little weird, but...the bathrooms were GORGEOUS. My only complaint is that the air conditioning was up way too high.

    Best Sushi

To date this is the best place for sushi in the city. The food, vegi's and fish are always so very fresh! The spicy mayo has such great kick. It's a little pricey, but definately worth the extra few bucks; Dinner for two with drinks about $120.
