Service
This is important for the New Yorker who is looking for a get away place. The service here is nothing but perfect and when you take the time to get to know some of the staff you will leave feeling you have found a second home. They are perfect and welcoming. For nightlife, the bar is always welcoming and friendly with bartenders who will put effort and personality in to their drinks and service...

My Favorite UES Restaurant
The weekend brunch is a steal. But dinner is even nicer. The decor is amazingly fresh and innovative, the chairs are among the most comfortable I've encountered anywhere, and the food is at once aesthetically pleasing and delicious. Smiling, accomodating servers: no attitude whatsoever from anyone here. How rare is that for NY? :) Try the super white tuna sashimi, which has an almost fruity aftertaste (mango?) and an impressive velour in its texture. Now if they could only perfect Nobu's rock shrimp...

Thumbs up people!
I love this neighborhood and Amber is one of the reasons why. The sushi is the best in the city! The appetizers and kitchen cuisine is awesome and with the decor and drinks my friends and family are there as often as we can. Try the green tea margarita or the lychee martini to start and then go with the rock shrimp tempura app. My favorite however is all the sushi! Regardless of what you choose, you can't go wrong! I don't know much about star ratings, but I know Amber is two thumbs of for me and all my friends! Enjoy it!

Definitely not worth the money
I have been to many sushi restaurants, particularly in the UES, and this is by far the most disappointing. The restaurant does have a nice atmosphere and you can sit outside, which is nice, but the food is nothing spectacular. The overall value is not good - since the food is relatively expensive, one would expect it to be better than average. It is definitely lacking. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

My favorite restaurant in NYC
I absolutely love this place. It is one of the last untouched asian-fusion restaurants left in this city - and by that, I mean no tourists, no long lines, but at the same time, a very cool ambience with stylish decor. It doesn't try too hard, and the food is DELICIOUS (and presented beautifully without too many bells and whistles). Try the coconut seafood chowder. It's served in a coconut and is wonderful (with many REAL chunks of seafood). The sushi is wonderful, and the rolls are unique, fresh, and plentiful. Try the Upper East Side roll, it's absolutely delicious. I can't say enough good things about this place, and I've been to tons of sushi restaurants in the city. An awesome place for a date or just to go out with a friends, plus a great little outdoor area that, in the nice, low-key residential UES, is perfect in the summer.

Great food, romantic, attentive service
Amber is certainly one of my favorite places to go to if I'm looking for a great time with friends! The decor is hip plus some romance, and the music is one of the reasons why we keep on going back! Food and drinks are always consistent, which's hard to do when the restaurant is always packed (the grilled sea bass and flirtini are must trys!). The friendly service can be a bit rushed, but don't let it affect the good times that you're going to have! Ask to sit in the back, the darker, cozier room will make your evening more pleasant!
