Get the tofu & vegetable casserole!
The food here is great, the service is friendly, the decor is cool and relaxed (very cool stone waterfall sculpture on the wall near the bar), and the price is reasonable (not cheap, but not outrageous). I HIGHLY recommend the tofu & vegetable casserole - it's probably the best vegetarian dish I've ever eaten...very flavorful. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back many times.

Does Everything Right
We're local to this restaurant and recently took dinner there. It has a very hip downtown feel for this neighborhood - but follows through with interesting fun decor and - that rarity - service that actually makes you feel special. The menu is very extensive, which is often a warning sign however, as other peoples dishes lookes so interesting we ditched the entree in favor of ordering multiple appetizers to ensure that we tasted as many flavors as possible. Every dish was interesting. I would have changed the salad accompanying my tuna cervice and the vegetable tempura was slightly underdone - but the satay and the sake cod were perfect. Dinner for 2, with service cost us $85 which is an absolute bargain for this area and we were very satisfied. I rarely thank the staff in a restaurant specifically, still less write an online review but this was a great experience -we will definitely be back.

A bit pricey but will definitely be back as the people, atmosphere, and most importantly food was great.

Will Definitely Be Back Soon!
We were looking for Japanese food, but we didn't want the typical, small, bland atmosphere. We had been by Amber once or twice and it looked fun and lively. And it was-the inside was very clean, nice and modern, with a great bar too! As we ordered, we just hoped the food would taste as good as the menu looked-the food was excellent! The miso cod, the spider roll (not on the menu) and the tuna money bags were amazing. The prices were very reasonable. And the key lime martini was dto die for! Can't wait to go back again soon! It's a great addition to the UES.
