Disappointing sushi
I used to love the sushi at Amber, even giving it a great Menupages review in the past. Sadly, the last 2 times I've been back, well it just hasn't been fresh. The most recent visit, it was really subpar -- should've sent it back. Service is friendly, but slow. I would go for a 1/2 price drink at happy hour, but would not eat here again.

Not recommended
The rock shrimp was the only good thing we ate....which we did after our entrees were served, the spicy tuna roll could have just been mush while the spider roll was as large as a small child's head...the lettuce wraps might as well have just been served with pineapple, it was overwhelming. eating atmosphere was unattractive service not recommended

Great girls night dinner!
yummy good, friendly staff, great ambiance, and excellent service! ...ps get the strawberry cheesecake for dessert! it's unreal!!

Not recommended
Ordered team dinner from here late one night....the food was mediocre (I am being generous) at best, tasteless and the quantity was nowhere close to the price!! never will order from this place again!

Great lunch specials!
I got the flounder lunch special, for $10 it came with miso soup, hot brown rice, and tasty fish with a pineapple sauce. It was really good. Definitely good value for lunch!

My Go-To for Sushi Delivery
I've been ordering delivery from Amber (381 3rd Ave) regularly for a couple of years. It's my go-to spot for fresh, generous portions of delicious sushi. My favorites are their Salmon Nigiri and Spicy Tuna Roll. I've tried roughly 3 dozen Japanese restaurants in Manhattan (it's easily my favorite cuisine), and Amber's versions of these items are the best. In addition, their service is impeccable. Not only do they fulfill your courtesy requests every time (e.g., no ginger, extra wasabi), they deliver on average the fastest of any restaurant (and I order dinner for delivery on average 5 times a week). Also, their portions consistently err on the side of generous, so you get great value for your money. I've only dined in a couple times, and as other reviewers have noted, their atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The music is annoying and way too loud - it's a restaurant, not a late-night dance club. Nonetheless, Amber is my top delivery choice, bar none.

Disappointing Sushi
I ordered take out today from Amber and I can't believe how horribly disappointed I am! I got the California roll and the Shrimp tempura roll and both looked and tasted like yesterday's leftovers. The California roll was falling apart and the crab stick inside was obviously not fresh and tasted dry and dated. The Shrimp tempura roll was also equally unappetizing. The shrimp tempura inside was soggy and old and the cucumber also tasted old. I hope this is a one time experience and they were just having a bad day but I doubt I will be ordering from here ever again!
