Party of ten, not happy
I was with a group of ten. We had reservations. The food was delicious, small quantities, and expensive. The restaurant would not allow us to pay individually. We had to get a calculator to figure our amount due per person, using the last of our cash and putting all our money together. They were in a rush to get rid of us yet we couldn't leave without doing our math. Somehow it seems we were over charged. Never going there again.

Perfect!!
This place is amazing!! The food was out of this world! The people were even better! Kristin and Reynold were so sweet! We are going back next time we are in New York.

FANTASTIC! Highly recommend it
Even during hurricane Sandy, this restaurant provided great food and service. We were a party of six and sampled just about everything on the menu and it was all fresh, hot and delicious and the staff was very attentive. It was hard to pick a favorite dish, but you have to try the four cheese risotto, the mussels and the gnocchi. The steaks, chop and fish served to our table were cooked perfectly and paired well with the Amarone wine. It is so close to the theatre district and the quality is so much better, that this will be our number one stop in the city. Thanks for a great evening.

Fantastic meal!
From pear salad to glass of Montepulciano to squid ink ravioli stuffed with eggplant, peppers, almonds, and ricotta, to decaf espresso and tartufo gelato, the food was excellent. Service was attentive, considerate, and helpful - a treat. My puttanesca is spicier, but I understand that can vary greatly by the kitchen. My daughter thought it could be "meatier" - with more tomato. The ambience seemed a combination of quiet and busy in the most pleasant way. Go there. Thank you, Amarone's, chef, and staff.

This is really a great restaurant
I am a New Yorker and I am a foodie. I know my New York City restaurants and I am not at all a tourist. I have been to Amarone a dozen or so times and I still like it very much. The service is great, the food is excellent at a reasonable price and they serve amarone by the glass... what else can you say? For the people that had bad experiences thats too bad but that happens everywhere, maybe you had a bad day. In a city that opens and closes restaurants every day this one has been around for a long time, testimony to its high rating.

Excellent
My wife and I tried this place on a whim. We were greeted at the door by the friendly manager (ask for Tony) and shown to our table. Our server explained the six specials and then let us peruse the menu. I ended up getting the sea bass and my wife got a pasta special. Both were amazing. I've never had Italian food like this before. It was kept simple and fresh. I will one hundred percent come back to this place, hands down.
