We went for brunch today and the place was empty. Too bad - the decor is beautiful and the food was really delicious, if a little pricey. I loved it and I would definitely go back for a special occasion but the prices are too high for me to make it a regular spot. We loved the bottomless mimosas!

I live in the neighborhood and there are not that many good places to dine out, that being said, Altus cafe is what the neighborhood needed... The food is great and the decor of the place is really chic but the current staff need better training in getting the orders right... other than that, I LOVE IT!

I went on a Thursday night. I had a great time with friends but..... the appitzers were horrible- the calarmi was chewy and u could tell it was previously frozen, the lamb was cold with a big chunk of mash that was dry and cold. Some of the drinks tasted like cough medicine. In the end we were unhappy with the food but since I live in the area might give it another try maybe it was an OFF night.

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at the chic (in appearance, not attitude), delcious Altus Cafe. As an added touch, they provided balloons in my chosen color. I tasted many of my friends' dishes. Everything was tasty, tasteful and beautifully presented. The only disappointing dish was an appetizer that was a combination of yuca and plantains, or something similar. One friend said it was the best meal she had ever eaten. I wouldn't go that far, but it was one of the best meals I've had north of 125th Street. It is a little pricey for the area, but you feel like you got something substantial for your money. They tried to charge us to plate the cake that we had brought, but a little reminder about the business we had brought in with our table of 20 nipped that in the bud. As with most Dominican spots, there's always room for negotation, but there's no tolerance for a lack of flavor.

This is the only place to get a great dinner delivered in the heights. Thank you for being here!

I went to Altus with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Washington Heights needs more quality restaurants and the particular stretch in which Altus is located is really barren, so it's a great addition. Everything we ate was really great. We had several wow moments. The prices could be a bit lower, but overall I think they're on par with the rest of Manhattan.
