Good neighborhood place.
We live nearby and eat here every now and then. Food is good enough to enjoy, but not great. Prix-fixe is a good deal. (See menu for hours) A pleasant place but small, with very close seating. Best during the week for early dinner ... more peaceful and more attention from staff.

Excellent French bistro fare
The place cries romantic and the food is fit for a king. Must come back soon!

Mediocre. Don't waste your money
Somewhat disappointing. The bread was stale and hard. When the food arrived, it was just so so - the meat wasn't very tender, it was just about edible. My partner ordered fish - it was slightly tough - edible but not great. The chocolate mousse was BAD! They used white chocolate and milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate as advertised on the menu. When I asked them about it they sprinkled a few dark choc shavings on it but that was it. If you're looking for authentic French dark chocolate mousse, this is NOT the place to go! This place is mediocre at best so save your money and go elsewhere if you can.

Are there two Alouettes?
I'm wondering if the reviewers below are talking about the same Alouette where I dine frequently. Consistently, I find the food to be top quality and well prepared (the frites are to die for). The service is very friendly and efficient, and the entire staff goes out of it's way to make you feel welcome, as if in their own home. I will continue to return to Alouette again and again. It's a corner of France on the UWS.

Subpar
The food didn’t taste fresh and wasn’t prepared with care. The manager wasnt responsive when I expressed my displeasure. And to top it off, the prices are too high. There are too many good French bistros in my hood to ever go back.

Steak au poivre with mediocre pomme frites
The Steak was fine, but the pommes frites were a brand I have had at other restaurants. Average Pomme Frites! They obviously do not cut their own fries and I find that to be unacceptable. If you are paying $25 for an entree then you should get better quality.
