finally, an authentic baguette!
forget all that heavy bread made in the shape of a baguette, go straight to almondine's, 'cos theirs is pretty close to parisian heaven. and then there're the mini macarons in funky flavors (perfect for my kids) and the tarte aux poires (my favorite) and the comfy chic sofas at the back for all of us. i sound like an insider but i'm not! just a fan :)

Now I don't have to schlep to DUMBO for this stuff? This place blows-away most any bakery/patisserie in the city and certainly anything else in Brooklyn. Their beignets (punitively, on the weekend only) are sublime, the macaroons (nothing to do with the Passover coconut confection) are perfection. The Slope just got a phenomenal new gift.
