Excellent for the food, atmosphere and value!

Best marinated octopus I have ever had! That is all we had, as we only wanted a midday snack. Atmosphere is wonderful and appealing. Outdoor seating is nice, surrounded by trees and other landscaping details, as it is located on a street just off of Broadway. Highly recommend!!

    not cooperative

Just got back from Almonds for Brunch. The heat in the restaurant was awful. 88 degrees outside and high humidity. Their was no air circulating inside it was extremely warm. Spoke to the Manager, his comment was the door is open its a beautiful day. Asked to please close the door so we could feel the air conditioning. He said no it was too nice outside. He was more concerned with the outside instead of his customers inside roasting. The poor waitress face was red and hot and so were other people. We didn't even have dessert because the manager was so stubborn to raise the air or close the doors. There are plenty of good restaurants in NYC for brunch . This one is not on our list anymore.

Might be my favorite place in the neighborhood

I've finally had brunch here, having had dinner twice before. Every time I've eaten there I've been really, really pleased. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but the quality of the ingredients, the atmosphere, and the service make it worthwhile for when you want a good meal in a lovely setting. It's more of a place I'd go occasionally because I want to keep it feeling special. I love the warm, cosy, inviting feeling of the restaurant - it makes a large space feel really intimate. They are also very kid friendly, which is great because lots of my friends have kids. The service has always been good when I've been there - and I've found that asking the server for recommendations leads to a great meal. Especially since the menu is seasonal, so it changes. I think the portions are very generous and the food really good.

    Not Going Back Anytime Soon

The location is very nice, we sat outside and the block was peaceful and quiet. However, the food portion was small and I’ve tasted better food. Lastly, the price was expensive and not worth it. I won’t be going back anytime soon nor would I recommend it.

    What More Could You Want?

Almond is amazing. First off, the space: vibrant bar (and raw bar); comfy dining room -- the latest and, I think, final iteration of Rocco DiSpirito’s famed attempt at this spot. Second, the best, kindest staff you will ever meet. (A previous reviewer mentioned generous wine pours -- everything about this place is generous.) Third, the menu is outrageously expansive (quail in a pomegranate-studded sauce? the best steak frites? juicy roasted chicken? their own charcuterie? those curried mussels? delectable fresh fish? that absurd pear cake?) -- yet it all comes to your table in perfect form. This is my idea of a perfect restaurant. Period.

    comfy neighborhood eats

We have dined at the prior establishments within this space, and have always thought the space deserved better... finally a great, easy neighborhood place to go. Our waiter, Clay was so accomodating, and knowledgable about the menu. Only one minor problem - we received our mains before our apps, which we did not think was a big deal once it got straightened out, however the manager/owner came over and apoligized, and we appreciated the friendly customer service. My husband did not happen to enjoy the dish he ordered, just not his taste; however everything else was yummy.. Veggies from the U.Sq farmer's mkt. The shrimp cocktail were huge and very fresh . Wine selection is great too.. We plan to become regular customers. Thanks Almond.
