comfy neighborhood eats
We have dined at the prior establishments within this space, and have always thought the space deserved better... finally a great, easy neighborhood place to go. Our waiter, Clay was so accomodating, and knowledgable about the menu. Only one minor problem - we received our mains before our apps, which we did not think was a big deal once it got straightened out, however the manager/owner came over and apoligized, and we appreciated the friendly customer service. My husband did not happen to enjoy the dish he ordered, just not his taste; however everything else was yummy.. Veggies from the U.Sq farmer's mkt. The shrimp cocktail were huge and very fresh . Wine selection is great too.. We plan to become regular customers. Thanks Almond.

Delicious
Finally this space houses a restaurant with great food. Hope this one sticks around, because these particular digs seem to be a revolving door for culinary disaster.

Best Nicois Salad
This place is great for brunch with either a big crowd or just another person. I've had their fritatta with leeks (delicious, big) and their nicois salad (also very big). The salad was incredible - platter with roasted potatoes, green beans, poached white fish, egg, fresh greens, and a very light delicious dressing. Its really hard to find a salad that is a satisfying entre, and this hits the spot any time of day but especially at noon. BTW, their homemade butter spreads w/ warm bisquits are complimentary and YUMMY.

pretty good!
Our appetizers of grilled asparagus and escarole were delicious. Special of the day was a veal chop, which was very good, thick chop and very juicy. Cavatelli with shrimp sausage wasn't bad, but it was a bit oversalted. Strawberry and rhubarb crisp was good but not spectacular. Portions are large and can be shared, which makes it a better value. Restaurant has a cozy, warm feel. Overall we had a good experience.

Great neighborhood spot!
Great spot with good, quality food. I am a lover of steak frites and order the dish wherever I go...Almond's is one of the better steak frites in NYC! Also, the service was impressive. We sat at the bar and talked to the bartender for a while while waiting for our table. He knew everything about the menu and made some great suggestions. When we moved outside to our table, our waiter was equally as knowledgeable and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Refreshingly good in an area lacking of nice restaurants.
I liked the buzz as soon as I walked in. Service was pleasant and we were seated quickly. We tried a number of dishes, amongst the best were the amazing beef short ribs, served with mini potato pancake. The scallops and roasted chicken were also really tasty. We splurged on one mac and cheese to share and only got thru half of it. It was decadent and good! Pours of wine were generous, also. We really enjoyed the desserts, particularly the warm apple crisp(huge) with ice cream. I would definitely go back!

overhyped
not sure what the below reviewers saw, but this foodie was unimpressed. Nice atmosphere, but chairs were very uncomfortable and tables too close; got bumped about 6 times during the meal. service was OK; food was pretty good, but the chef went overboard with the salt. wine choices are all french, which is not good if you like CA. with so many choices in the big city, would go elsewhere.
