    Nice food, shocking service

My friends and I have eaten here many times. We used to go almost every week for the delicious sandwiches and scones. However, the waiting time has condsiderably increased and the hostesses have become rude and disorganised. On a recent visit, we put our name down for a 90 minute wait, only to be told upon returning 80 minutes later that there was no record of our reservation. The hostess suggested that we were lying and refused to do anything to accommodate us other than putting us back on the list for ANOTHER 90 minute wait.

    Too slow

I recently dined at Alice's tea cup. Great idea, but really slow service. It took almost 2 hours for me to receive my eggs and my sister to receive her scone. Food was good, but they definetly need to improve their service time.

Not as great as some reviews claim

Don't get me wrong, I have been to this place a few times and it is cute. The food is ok and the scones are great as are teh cupcakes. The service is pretty slow. Only one server for the whole restaurant? Our tea also came way after our food did. I know that it takes time to steep tea but I really wanted to enjoy my scones with my tea! The decor is "ok". The sewing machine tables ad a nice touch but other than that the atmosphere is loud because of the space and there are only a few murals on the wall. The store is adorable but the restaurant decor is pretty blah. Not much to it. (Other than the tables and mismatched tea sets) In no way do I think this place is as "magical" as it could be or some people say. The sandwiches are ok, a little dry and pretty pricey for finger foods as someone already said. The server was nice but don't expect going here to get in and out. Took forever to place our order because she was so busy. Ths store is cute but the sales girl was so slow getting our teas that we bought. Luckily we got there when there wasn't a wait but when we were leaving the store was so congested and it was pretty annoying. Oh well. I would recommend this place to try, but don't expect it to be as wonderful as some people say. But surely give it a try, maybe your idea of magical differs from mine.

    Cute, but expensive

I'm going to be perfectly honest; Alice's Tea Cup has probably the BEST scones I have ever eaten. My favorites are the pumpkin (oh SO good with a cup of coffee) and the chocolate and strawberry one is so delicious. I have also tried their various other baked goods which were fantastic as well. Have not tried their sandwiches, however, but from looks at the menu, it is very expensive for fingerfood. I have eaten inside once, and the decor was cute, not creepy like other reviews said, and the sewing tables to eat on were a nice, unique touch. The service was unremarkable, but the scones and tea made up for that. Go here for a special date with someone you love, its perfect atmosphere for that ^_^ (But if you'd like a meal, be prepared to fork over quite a bit of money!)

    Blah atmosphere

Don't expect a magical, "wonderland" ambience. this place is way overrated. there are a few painted murals on the walls, but mostly the impression of the dining area is one of a cave. there's a bit of shabby chic going on with the mismatched furniture and china, but mostly it is rather dull, dark, and unimaginative. on top of that, the the service is inconsistent and the music was not appropriate. i was disappointed and stressed out eating here. if you are looking for a tea experience with a young daughter, try american girl in midtown. as commercial as it may be, the staff is well-trained and polite, and the decor fanciful and relaxing. if you want good high tea, go to one of the better hotels around the city.

    A girl's dream!

Alice's Tea cup is absolutely fantastic! My friend (who now works there) took me to Alice's for the first time, with the recommendation that it was her favorite place in New York City. When I walked in and saw the shop with fairy wings, glitter, and everything a girl could dream of, I knew I would love it before I even sat down. It is charming and sweet, and the food was wonderful. The number of teas you can choose from is unbelievable, and everything is great so you can't go wrong! This is definitely a place I would recommend to any girly girl, and most certainly is a place to go on a "Mother-daughter" day!

    Amazing Scones

I love Alice's Tea Cup, it is a fun place to go with your girlfriends for tea and scones after a day of shopping. You can sit and relax and enjoy the girly atmosphere, great tea, and the amazing scones (pumpkin is the best) and desserts. But don't go there expecting great service. The waitresses are a bit slow (ours forgot to serve us our dessert because she was upstairs eating, yes she told us that). So don't go there if you're in a hurry or just want a quick bite to eat!
