Good Brunch Place in UES
I was lucky enough to have my wife surpise me with a visit to this hidden brunch place on my birthday. That was back in June and today makes it the 4th time we've come to place for Brunch. The place is small but what do you expect? It's New York and this is a place that is all about the theme of Alice in Wonderland...this is the charm of this place. I don't usually call people out but we have to say that Ryan has made our experience enjoyable from day one. He's always quick to recommend great food, teas, and coffee and join the conversation with quick wit and friendly advice. Quite honestly the food (I always get the Ham/Cheese Scone Benedict) is outstanding and the service (sure, they could use help...all those tables and only one guy) is great. Everyone we have brought to this little "hidden gem" has been extremely happy. Lastly, it may not be the best place to grab a "quick bite" but it's the best place to go if you want an experience.

long time customer - disappointed.
I've been a fan of alice's teacup for the past 3 or 4 years. I was ecstatic to hear that a new location was opening on 81st which is closer to my home. Anyway, this location was great at the beginning, but recently, with Alice's growing popularity, the service and food seems to have dwindled tremendously. Today I ordered my albacore tuna sandwich which was far too dry. To make matters worse, our waitress forgot of our existence pretty much entirely, but managed to include an over 20% tip on the check for only 4 people. If you're going to go, at least ask for the "neighborhood discount."

Expensive, Average, Small Sandwiches
Despite 2 free tables I was unable to get a table for a quick lunch here, as those tables were booked, and it would be 40-50 minutes for other tables. We learnt while waiting that the booking for those tables wasn't for another 1.5hrs, so we'd have expected to be in and out in that time! Ordered 2 *cold* sanwiches togo... it took 20 minutes before the *cold* sandwiches arrived!! At least the extraordinarily slow kitchen explains why they couldn't get us seated and have us in and out within 90 minutes. Had the sandwiches been good there may have been a chance we'd still try again at this place, but the sandwiches were super small, the bread in one case seemed stale and they were $12 each!! And by the way, I am not a big eater and I don't usually care how much sandwiches cost... I eat $8-$14 sandwiches almost every day from the likes of dishes, mangia and wichcraft (places that have good sandwiches that are plenty filling enough for me). My wife eats even less than I do and she was hungry after the sandwiches. Would not recommend this to anyone looking for lunch, maybe their tea and scones/cake are better.

Nice quaint delicious brunch
Went here for Brunch on Saturday. What a charming place! The prices are very reasonable and the food was delicious- Their version of eggs benedict was out of this world. The chicken potato hash was delicious as were the scones. The three tiered tea/breakfast was out of this world. Although the waitstaff needs a little work on timing, they were very polite. Just have to work on what part of the orders go where. From what I understand this branch of the restaurant chain is somewhat new. The tea list is outstanding - Boston Tea party and black fruits tea were the two we picked- very nice. I highly recommend for a relaxed, comfortable, pleasant, no rush brunch experience. Prices were very reasonable. Our bill for 2 very filling meals and 2 pots of tea was less than $40. I look forward to visiting this place again!

Wonderland
I had a bridal party there and on top of good food and outstanding tea, the service was absolutely top notch. Perfect for day date or special gathering. Such a cute place, so happy we have one so close.
