Ali Baba Turkish Cuisine

I actually wanted to write something positive here. The food was OK, yet nothing to brag about. Service was actually slow and attitude was poor.I don't think I will ever eat there again.

I had a birthday party in Ali Baba two weeks ago. It was so great that I will never forget it. We (10 of us) came in at around 6:30. Where we sat is an extra space at the end and it was pretty cold there. That was the only thing I don't like. However the food was fantastic. We ordered different entrees and all enjoyed the food very much! Mine is Coop Shish which is lamb kabob. It was seasoned perfectly. Also the rice with the meal is great that I ate all of them (generally i did not eat rice at night). My husband ordered the mixed grill that he cannot finish it at all. One of my friends got lamb shank that she said it was the best shank she ever had. At the end of the party, once the waiters knew it was my birthday, they sang a birthday song to me. So touching! I love this place and will go back soon! BTW, when we left there at around 8:30, there were so many people waiting for seats, so I suggest you make reservation before going. Enjoy!

The food is very very good here. Very fresh and everything is spiced and cooked to deliciousness. Do not pass on the hummus or the stuffed eggplant halves as appetizers. Prices are pretty reasonable. We ordered a lamp platter and for $20, two people were full (granted this was after 4 appetizer plates but 2 were dips). Two tips: (1) check your bill carefully as we had 3 items that we didn't order on it and (2) sit in the back room. There are a number of tables out in the front of the restaurant (especially tables for two) close to the entrance and it gets so cold out there (although they do have a super-strong standing heater) so if possible, ask for a table in the back.

My girlfriends and I were in town to celebrate my birthday. Nice atmosphere, delicious food and great serving staff ---they made my birthday even more special by singing a birthday song in the end. However, for a busy place it had very limited space --it felt like surrounding tables could over hear our conversation and vice versa (pretty much felt a little too intrusive). Overall a fine place to dine at for any occasions.

I think this is one of the best turkish places in the city - thank god it is in my neighbordhood! The mezze are all amazing and the bread they serve with them is fresh from the oven. Got the mixed lamb grill and split it with a friend. Had enough to take home for a whole other meal. Can't wait to go again!

Ali baba is a great neighborhood spot. we go here all of the time and are always pleased with the food and the service. i've had a number of items on the menu and am always pleased. normally i'd like to keep a place this delish all to myself, but from the looks of their dining room night after night, the secret is already out!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I haven't been disappointed in any dish. The stuffed grape leaves are the best I have ever eaten and the Sheppard Salad is so good it can be a meal on its own. I also love the Homemade Manti, although it is usually a little too heavy for me. When I eat in the restaurant I usually order the fresh fish of the day and it is divine.
