Excellent Food! Delish!
Had dinner at Ali Baba last Friday night. The food was incredible - hummus was particularly outstanding. The difference between good hummus and great hummus is so pronounced here. The eggplant salad starter was also really great, and I'd never had that before. Also had a big salad with feta and chicken and the lentil soup. Both excellent. The chicken was tender and the salad was crisp, delicious! Lentil soup was very good. One thing I thought was strange is that they didnt have mint tea on the menu for the end of the meal - that was odd to me, and it would have been nice finisher. The waitstaff was fine, not great, not bad. The host/hostess people were very nice. I am definetly going back and will recommend this food to others!

ali babba
food just ok. head waiter had little personality and lacked professionalism. rest of staff tried a little harder but were obviously not from a food service background.

Yum!
The best Turkish food ever! I go for lunch a lot, and the lunch special is amazing, very reasonably priced. The hummus and lebni are excellent, and all the kabobs are very tasty! I highly recommend this place, especially for lunch, it's a great value.

Best Falafel ever!
Super restaurant this, menu is chocker full of tasty foods and turkish classics. Place is great, its very atmospheric and full of local Turkish people. I had the turkish pizza for starter, she the falafel. Turkish pizza was excellent, falafel was the best I have ever had. Went for the Donor for main which was delicious. Very large portions though which we couldnt manage. Turkish coffee to finish with, which would keep you going for weeks. All in all an excellent turkish restaurant.

Can't Beat Baba
I have lived in the city for almost 5 years and this place is my favorite! If you like lamb try the Hankar Bendi (sp?). If you don't know what to get, trust the waiters.. they won't steer you wrong!

Excellent
Fantastic and thoughtful service - they really wanted us to enjoy the food. The food was awesome - the Hummus is perhaps the best hummus I have tasted in NYC. The other main course dishes we tried were the Chicken Adana, the Kofte Kebab, and the Beyti - all cooked with the right level of marination, and grilling. The Falafel too was fried to the right level of crispiness. Highly recommended dining experience.

Great bread and hummus in the city
The hummus is as close to perfect as can be - creamy but not oily with a delicious and addictive flavor. The bread served warm is fresh and puffy. The medditerranean salad is full of crisp veggies, cheese and a generous portion of tasty kebabs. I love the Baba.
