New Owners, Not The Same
This was my favorite falafel place in the city - with the best lamb shawarma I've ever had - but the lovely family that used to own this place sold it, and now it operates under the same name with some of the same staff, but new owners. The food has already gone down hill...the tip off for me was the former owners amazing hot sauce - which we discussed bottling in the past - is no longer there. But I also have confirmation from someone, though they were told to not tell anyone. I was literally devastated - sadly I'm not exaggerating - but The high quality of food and service is already gone.

Going down hill
I have been a huge fan of Alfanoose for a few years, but since it changed hands, the service has really declined. There is inadequate staff to handle the lunchtime rush. The service is extremely slow and the operation is very disorganized. The last sandwich I got there was poorly prepared and completely fell apart. I decided to give the place another chance, but have now walked out twice because of overly long waits.

meh
I went here because there are very few places to get a falafel sandwich in the Financial District if you don't want to eat from a cart. All in all, Alfanoose is okay. The interior is quite dismal and looks a bit disorganized and the only really annoying thing is that there's a $15 minimum purchase in order to use your credit card (and you can't see the sign that states that until you're at the front of the line). The falafel sandwich was good, but fell apart. The pita they used is very thin, almost like a tortilla. For $6.50 (this includes tax), the falafel sandwich was a little pricier than other places I've liked (Tahini, Mahmoun's), but if I'm desperate for some falafel, I'll go back.

Not recommended
Chicken schwarma sandwich was unappetizing, bread was all soggy, fell apart when I opened it, the chicken was of low quality, had some pickled radish in it which was subpar. Threw it out after 3 bites

Best Falafel and Lamb Shawarma Ever
This place is absolutely delicious... By far the best lamb shawarma in the city. Don't get me wrong, Mamouns is great if you're broke, but this place is just at another level. I seriously get a little depressed after my last bite. The falafel is great as well, and the people there are terrific. I guess its the owner, but he goes out of his way to say hi and prepare your order if you're there a few times. In fact, at one point there was someone working there who really wasn't very good. Wrong orders, poorly prepared food, and I wrote a comment to them through their website. They wrote back the next day offering free lunch and to assure me the person will be trained further. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

do not order on weekends - meat dry
based on excellent reviews on menu pages, my roommates and i decided to order from here on a saturday evening. to our surprise, the food was sub par...meat was dry and tough, the rice tasteless, and spreads ‘ok’ at best. perhaps the rave reviews were all written on the weekdays?? but our experience was definitely the opposite of the other reviews we had read.
