    Different treatment

We ate here on 3/5/13 as we had a coupon. We were asked if we had a coupon immediately upon entering and then escorted to a basement room while there were tables available upstairs. We were given a "special" menu which did not have some of the listed items. Also, the appetizers did not have all the ingredients that were listed on the regular menu. The food was good, but we were not treated as desired clientele. The gratuity of 15% was fair but was based on a total bill of $108. where as the menu items did not total to this amount. Alfama should alter its attitude if they participate in coupons and discounts.

    Disappointing

We recently ate at Alfama and overall the experience was a disappointment. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly, but the food was flat out poor. The appetizers were poorly cooked and lacked flavor. The codfish cakes tasted like fried nothingness. No flavoring at all. The steak was microwave quality and was a poor cut of meat. A few items on the menu were unavailable and they were sold out of beer. We had a deal and ordered off of a special menu. Although we prepaid, for tip purposes, they valued the meal at about $60 per person and applied a mandatory tip. This meal was worth $30 per person at most. So after a painfully average at best meal experience, we left feeling a bit ripped off. You roll the dice buying any meal deal and we definitely lost out on this one.

    service sux

I took advantage of a deal that was offered in the restaurant and with me never trying porteguese food, I thought I may give a shot. Its a small place and seating is like I was having dinner with another couple. The food simply designed and small portions ( keep in mind its a special dinner menu) When the entrees arrived the were plated nicely, but the steak was over cooked. My dish was cooked well. but, during dinner it got crowded quickly and became umcomfrtably hot inside. by, We ordered dessert and it took close to 15 minutes to be set before us. By that time I needed to leave for my evening show.. overall an average place. didnt leave an impresion

    A nice surprise

We came with a groupon certificate. Initial impression on the phone to make a reservation was not good, BUT once we at the restaurant, it was more pleasant. The food choices were more than adequate, the food was very good and the service was excellent. The house wine served to us was very drinkable. We are out to dinner at least once or twice a week, and this was fine. The "bill" with a tip of 15% is not a great idea, but the service was better than that. Add something more when you leave. Don't trust the lousy reviews - judge for yourself.

    Portuguese good eats

Found them while surfing the web back home. Read their menu and other reviews and decided I had to stop in and try it for myself. I was definitely impressed and it met my best expectations. If you're looking for a modern twist on traditional Portuguese food; this is where to go. Enjoy!

    Great find!

I'm not familiar with Portugese cuisine but I was put on another planet of delicacy when I ate at Alfama. Must go!
