    Delicious food, friendly servers

I disagree w. the above Stroller~Mom. I have dined here many times, with friends and alone. I am always treated well. This is a very small, quiet, special restaurant. I have seen the proprietess turn away groups that would bring noise and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. I applaud her for not allowing you to take over the outside space with your child and stroller. If she allows this, the rest of the playground will follow. Not everyone in the Village loves dining w. children. Alexandra has been here for years and I am sure it will remain. If Petite Abeille welcomes you, by all means go there with your child. Dublin 6, up the street, will welcome you to sit outside among the other strollers. I will be lunching at Alexandra again this week, and I am happy to learn we will not here have to contend with the stroller set .

    Not the friendliest

I've been here a number of times - for drinks, with friends, with my husband. It's convenient, which is why I tend to come back...just down the street. But today I was turned away from a completely empty set of tables on the sidewalk because I had a sleeping baby in a stroller. I can understand that policy for indoors - but a sleeping baby outside? For marginal food and so-so service, I don't think I'll go out of my way to come back now. I've been in the village a long time and seen restaurants come and go...and those that are friendly and open to all are the ones that tend to stick. This one won't. I'd go to Petite Abeille down the street if I were you - better service, better food, and you don't have to leave the stroller home.

    great place

There are a few things on the menu, including the Lamb and Gnocchi, that are th best I've ever had. That being said, I've dined her 6 or 7 times and have never been even slightly disappointed. The only downside is the place is a bit small and they only accept cash or Amex.

    Not worth it

My bf and I were walking around the West Village looking for a place to have dinner. We saw this place and thought it was really cute. We didn't have reservations and they had room for us which was great. The place is cozy and romantic. Unfort. that was the best part. Service was very spotty. It took a while to get our menus. Wine wasn't that great and I don't think our server knew anything about them. I had the chicken and my bf the salmon. Both were nicely plated but no flavor between the two. We will not be back.

$14 glass of Pinot. Cash only?

A little terrace by the street (nice) and OK food. Alexandra is excessively priced, and service exists - if you consider that getting your dinner plate and then the bill at the end with the announcement "This is cash only! There are two ATMs accross the street. Everybody goes there!" Grandpa' could paid stuff with his credit card in 1957 but I can't do it in 2007? Another shocker, on the bill - Pinot Grigio at $14 a glass ("prices are inside, up there" - the waitress pointed to me). Well, I think CPB NYS says it should be on the list. The place was empty to begin with. Service - undescribable poor. Just don't let yourself duped because of the quick availability of the terrace seating. Terrible, terrible experience - for a "Restaurant (?!)"! We'll n e v e r return.

    Disappointing

The restaurant has a great location and the food isnt bad at all. However, the service is atrocious and the food was terribly overpriced. We waited for an hour for our food when the restaurant was half empty. Our water glasses were never refilled and we could not get the attention of waitress who sat at a table with her back to the customers. They dont allow substitutions, so if you had dietary preferences you would end up ordering sides in addition to paying full price for the entree. No credit cards accepted making the twenty three dollars for three scallops seem even more outrageous. Too bad we were just walk ins and hadnt seen the poor service reviews!!

    too big for its britches

i was disappointed too, and i won't be back. have to agree with the other reviewers here who described the poor service. it's a shame, because the food is alright and this place has potential. but the waitstaff seems genuinely bored and they're rude, for example even a roll of the eyes for a quick second description of the specials. on a thursday evening, with not even half the tables occupied, you'd think that, at the very least, you'd get someone's attention to sit down at a table. nope, not here. and the food was ok but overpriced. oh well, gave it a shot.
