We specialize in Northern Spanish Cusine, but all regions of Spain are successfully represented in our menu. We have over 15 years of experience, first as Marichu, now as Alcala. We have spent time trying our best to make our patrons feel like they are at home when they're here. The dinner menu features traditional paella, squid in black in sauce, stuffed peppers with codfish, monkfish in garlic & parsley sauce, serrano and iberico ham as well as an amazing selection of Spanish cheeses. We have an exclusive all Spanish wine list from Rioja to Cava. We have a very exciting Tapas menu available for dinner together & a cocktail list including some of New York's favorites: Margaritas, Sangria, & Raspberry mojitos. The front main dining room offers a more elegant, romantic dining atmosphere why the garden room, glass-enclosed, offers a more casual dining experience!

Best Spanish Food in NYC - Authentic!

It is a pleasure to dine at Alcala. The food and service are amazing! Finally! A Spanish restaurant that is as good as a fine dining Spanish restaurant in Spain!! We visit Alcala once a week. The staff is welcoming, the decor is charming and the food is well worth the trip to midtown. This is a phenomenal place to go with your loved one, on a date or with some friends! BTW- this is the first time I have ever written a review on a restaurant, and I read reviews on an almost daily basis. That's how much I LOVE this restaurant! But shhh! I also love that it is not a scene!

    Nice little spot

I stopped there for lunch and had the seafood paella which was delicious. The service was great and so was the Trio chocolate mousse desert. I will definetly plan another trip there to try the rest of the menu.

    perfect after a long conference

After a very long conference and looking to go somewhere we could relax, eat good food and enjoy the company Alcala was just what we needed. We ordered different plates to taste, and had great service, without being rushed. Thank you again, we will see about doing a company function.

    Absolutely lovely

Recently came here for lunch. The food is delicious. The garlic shrimp appetizer is a great way to start off the meal. Every dish we had was delicious and though some of the ingredients are heavy, the dishes themselves were lighter than i expected. Dessert was fantastic (arroz con leche, delicioso)! The service is top notch, but a little too much for my taste. Would be a very romantic dinner spot. Will return.

    An OK Place

The main attraction for this was we really needed a place to head to having jetted in late Saturday afternoon. The last thing we wanted or needed was to be turned away from somewhere on a busy Saturday. So thanks to Open Table. This place is situated down a side street near the UN. Quite a cosmopolitan lot were dining when we arrived. My wife had the lamb, which was very tasty and tender. I opted for the meat paella, which was OK. Not a lot of meat and the lamb in it was a bit tough. Service was very quick and we were in and out within an hour. It was an ok experience but I would be in no rush to go back.
